I called delta to see if I could get on an earlier flight to Orlando and they told me about something called confirmed standby. You call 3 hours before the flight takes off and they put you on the standby list. I think it costs $50 to do it but I'm not sure . I've flown standby in the past but I've always had to go to the airport to get on the list. Anyways I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? I was going to just change my ticket but this option would be a lot cheaper. Thanks :D

Haven't done it yet, but we are going to try it on SONG for our trip in 3 weeks. We have 2:00PM departure, but might try for 7:00AM......for a fee as a confirmed standby.

I have never done it on Delta but I usually fly NWA. Most of their fares allow standby the same day of your original departure without penalty. Keep in mind that standby is exactly that--you will go only if there is a seat available. If you are traveling with a family and the flight is full there is a good chance that your seats will not be together as you will be one of the last ones to board with whatever seats are left. I suggest carryons that will fit underneath your seat as if the flight is full, your bags will be the last ones on and if there is no overhead space left then your carryons will be gate checked to MCO.

Also double check with Delta what happens if you dont get on? Do you get your 50.00 back? Not sure how Delta works but if you dont get on then I wouldnt think you should have to pay a fee IMO. If you can call to get on the list then make sure you do, but also make sure once you get to the airport that you are still on that list. Of course, they are a first come-first serve basis so the earlier you get on the higher up the list you will be.

Good luck...let us know how it goes. I hope your standby flight is wide open and you have no problems..enjoy WDW!

I've done confirmed standby with Delta before. Just call their customer service # 3 hours before the flight you want is scheduled to leave. If there is room on the flight you can fly. They will charge you $50, but you will also get a seat assignment. That is what they mean by confirmed standby. You have a confirmed seat on the plane. Go to the airport and checkin as usual. Enjoy your trip!!!

Thanks everyone :wave2:

I feel better knowing what to expect. So far the plane is quite empty so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. You guys are the best! :D

I will be doing the same thing for our flight in April. But when I called Delta, they called it "same day confirmed". It is not a standby situation, if there is room on the plane 3 hours in advance of that flight, they give you definite seats. That is the way it was explained to me.
