I'm looking at flights to New York in March and it's a toss up between BA and American Airlines - I hear they have more leg room - but what's the service like?

Many thanks for your help

Yes Sam we used AA for our New York trip. We really liked them.

You do get the added legroom, the crew were extremely pleasant, the only negative we had was the lunch was pretty awful - but then for tea, they served pizzas which were very nice.

We agreed we would use them again without any hesitation.

Thanks Shirley I think I will fly with them - I'm off to see my friend in CT and I've got the chance to buy a flight for £183.00 - this is good isn't it LOL I have no idea :)

We flew to New York with AA a couple of years ago Sam, and found the service to be very comfortable. The amount of leg room was also really surprising after using a number of other airlines.

Whilst we'll probably stick with Virgin & BA for Orlando until our little boy is older, i'd choose AA economy for direct flights elsewhere whenever possible.

Sam, AA is my favorite airline because of the legroom. I'm not much for eating while I fly, so the food doesn't matter to me.

Great rate, I'd grab it.

Well I've done it I'm booked for a long weekend in March flying out a Thursday and coming back on the Tuesday landing on the Wednesday.

Thanks all for your comments it made me feel much better :)

Great fare there Sam. Have a fantastic trip :) We last went on a break to New York in July last year, must get round to doing it again some time with the exchange rate so low and some good flight deals around the minute.

Richard. :)

We used BA to New york about 18 months ago from Man. They were OK but nothing special, old plane with leaking window and when we told staff they were not interested. Hope AA are good as we are using them for Florida in Oct. Via Chicago. Used BMI last Oct. via Washington and rate them as best transatlantic flights we have ever done (not been with Virgin for about 3 years so maybe they have improved, they didn't have seat back TV from Manchester).
New york is a fantastic city. Have a great time

We flew BA to NY for Christmas, flying on down to Florida via Delta. BA service v good - got upgraded to World Traveller Plus on the way back so no complaints:p

We flew AA to Miami last New Year - couldn't fault them either and even better - got upgraded to Business Class on return - wow!:bounce:

Just be sure to allow 3 hours for check in nowadays for the extra security - you need it if you want to shop - have 2 teenage daughters plus me buying our make up!
