We have done 2 cruises on Disney dream with our 25 year old DD who uses a wheelchair..both have been in cabin 11000 which is the one and only HA cat v on the dream, there is also 1 HA cat t on the dream which I would love as well...we were very happy with 11000 as it has everything we need such as roll in shower, wider doorway etc..

we are planning another cruise with friends next sept and both HA concierge rooms are booked...there are HA staterooms available still but no concierge HA...my dilemma is I can book non concierge HA but we would really miss certain benefits of concierge such as the priority embarkcation and disembarkation..when we left the ship on the first cruise we were not aware of the service and had to wait forever trying to get an elevator down from deck 11 as we need quite a bit of space and on that last day its very difficult to get on elevator at all.

tracey told me about the priority walk off and wow, we were so happy and greatful...my daughter must use a wheelchair, we have tried renting scooters and power wheelchair just for the cruise but did not work for her..she uses power chair at home but its customized for her so on the ship its her manual which is much smaller.

anyway my question is have u ever booked a Non HA cat v or cat t when you were using a wheelchair as I am wondering if there is any way I can make it work for us..i realize doorways are smaller, would a smaller manual chair fit through the door at all. at the moment there are several cat v and cat t available and I would be willing to rent a cheaper HA inside on another deck as well to have the accessible washroom available.

of course we can manage with a HA non concierge but daughter doesn't want to and we would miss all the benefits...she realy appreciated how much easier it was for her with concierge.

anyone who has any info they could share would be appreciated.

I would love to know this as well because my son is in a chair as well. On our 1st two cruises the HA Concierge cabins were not available. On our last cruise we had 5552 on the Dream which is an awesome room with a huge veranda. I think I asked this question previously and was told it would not work.

I am not sure how much room a smaller wheelchair would give you, but I know that on the Dream, I watched a couple trying to get into their non-HA concierge stateroom with a standard wheelchair. It was not pretty. The chair would not go through the door at all.

We had the HA Cat T with a connecting non-HA Cat V. The walkway from the door to the bed in the non-HA Cat V is very tight. I found a picture to help you with non-HA Cat V sizing in this thread: http://www.disboards.com/threads/cat-v-on-the-fantasy.3007428/. (I do not currently have access to my own pictures to upload and I am not sure if I have one that represents the size well.)

Since the only Cat T I have been in was HA, I am not sure how tight the entrance hallway is. I would think that there would be enough room once in the stateroom for a wheelchair, I am just not sure if you could get through the doorway.

As an option, remember you can use the bathrooms by the fitness center. If you go the non-HA concierge route, this might be an option. I have read they have HA shower facilities.
