I was just wondering if anyone has ever travelled by Amtrak from Buffalo to Orlando. (Kissimmee) I hate flying so I'm thinking of taking the train in August to Disney. I will be traveling solo but I will be meeting up with three girlfriends who will fly out of Maine. (There from the Maritimes) I will be the one who is renting the car and I don't know if there are car rental agencies located at or close to the train station.

Please help.

Even if you travelled from another place to Orlando can you give some info on the train station.

Thanks!

I hate flying too so I've travelled to Orlando twice by Amtrak, once by Greyhound (a nightmare) and once by direct bus charter (best option). When I took the train, I left from the Syracuse, NY station and connected through NYC.

There is an Enterprise car rental counter at the Amtrak station in Orlando. The most important thing to know about the Orlando route is that it's consistently delayed by at least 4 hours. If you're renting a car, make sure that they can come and pick you up after hours as your train will be late. Are you planning on picking up your friends at the airport? You might want to reconsider this as the train will most likely be delayed. (my worst experience involved a 10 hour delay - but I did get my fare refunded).

We traveled Amtrack in California and Oregon, but never Fla. We enjoyed it. We had friends once that joined us in Kissimmee, that took Amtrack from Myrtle Beach to Kissimmee. They had a good trip, but there was smoking allowed on the train. (not sure if it's still allowed.)
