Has anyone ever toured night time only?

Considering a summer trip for the first time. My oldest has a health condition that makes touring in the heat of the day very dangerous. We've been so many times, though. I'm wondering if we could make it work to start touring around 6 or so. We'd do the resort/pool during the day, maybe even get to the parks a smidge earlier than 6 and do indoor attractions/shows until the sun got lower. Thoughts? TIA!

2017 in August I didn't go out until 4pm each day and I had a wonderful trip! I go 3x/year, so maximizing every minute isn't on my agenda so YMMV.

If heat is your issue, I would rethink Orlando in the summer. Even at night it doesn't really cool off.

We were at Disney World in October and for the first time ever we did a mid-day break and went back to the parks in the evening/nighttime and it was GREAT! We loved it so much. I think you'll have a great time :)

it is still very hot and humid even at night so if heat is the issue I agree to rethink it. However if it's the brutal sun then I think this is a marvelous idea.

Yes, it can be very hot and humid at night.. but it's better than when the sun is beating down on you also. Only you know the level of heat that they can handle.

You mentioned that you haven't been in the summer before, the evenings are still very hot, but you won't have the sun beating down on you, which might help.

Ditto what everyone else has said about it still potentially being very hot and humid at nighttime in Orlando in the summer. But if it's more of the sun that's an issue, it could definitely work!

About 20 years ago, before our D was born, H and I used to have to go to WDW on my school breaks (I was a teacher back then) and after our first spring break trip we realized we just couldn't tolerate the Orlando heat and humidity. So we started following what AllEars.net's "Anita Answer" called the "vampire strategy" -- which was basically going to the parks after 4 pm and staying until close (and back then they frequently were open past midnight), then sleeping in and spending the afternoon in the pool/laying in the shade by the pool. It worked like a charm and we always had a fabulous time! The one caveat I would say is to check and make sure that the parks you want to visit will be open late enough to make it worth your while...we've noticed over the years that WDW has reduced their nighttime hours during many parts of the year.

Hope that your nighttime strategy will work and your family will have a wonderful time! :)

My sister, nephew and I did a weekend trip a few years ago around Memorial Day where we slept in every day, hung out at the resort and then went to the parks and shut them down. (They did have some pretty great PM EMH’s that weekend) It was one of the most fun and stress-free trips I’ve ever taken. Plan your FPs in advance and go!

Yes it's still quite warm at night, but the sun going down does help. We love doing epcot showcases at night, the ambiance is nicer. Also 7dmt and splash mtn. at night is more fun (feels faster)! And if you have been here multiple times then you dont need to do everything. Our last trip we had a couple days of resort then parks and it was wonderful. Tip is to use garden grocer or amazon now (thats what we used) and order flats of water, hydrate even if you feel full and the heat wont be too bad.

I'll disagree with those that say it's still "hot and humid" at night. However, hot is very subjective. It's still humid...it's summer in Florida, it's almost always humid. Hot at night, not so much IMO. Once the sun goes down, I think it's fabulous. Usually in the low-mid 80s, without the sun beating down. If it's a "cool" day in Disney, it could even be in the 70's at night.

Anyhow, yes, you could definitely do an evening tour, I don't see why not. We don't do exclusive evenings during our summer trips, but we do some. Would the pool be the best idea if your son has issues with daytime? Sure, you're in the water, but the sun is beating down. If he can do that, maybe you could get to the parks somewhat before 6pm. There are endless options to do that are pretty much all inside in the a/c. Things like Philharmagic, CoP, Bugs Life, Dinosaur, Muppets, SE, etc.... The options are even more if you have FP+, for example Space Mountain or Star Tours. The line there can stretch outside if you don't have a FP+. But if you have one, you walk right inside and stay inside.
