Just curious......has anyone out there ever stayed a whole month? Where did you stay, what kind of passes etc. We spent 10 days this summer, and I swear we could of stayed 20 more! :) The weather were we are is yucky!!! And even though FL was hot, atleast we had sunshine. I keep teasing my girls telling them next year we are going for the whole month, and then started to wonder if anyone has ever done it?

I haven't- ohh, but a girl can wish!

I once met someone at a Pin Meet at the Poly who had stayed just about a month. He had a motor home and was traveling all across the country. He and his wife decided to go to Disney for a few days.. well, they really liked it, so they stayed. I think they bought AP's (or those 30 day passes.. can't remember) and stayed in their motor home over at Fort Wilderness. He was such an interesting character.. he really liked pluto. He had never heard of pin trading before he came to disney and kinda got into as a way to meet people and have something to talk to cast members about. You could tell he wasn't really into the pins (except for the pluto ones) He would just sit and chat everyone up.. it was such a nice change from the average pin person ;-) I had such a great time talking to him. ..and I digress, sorry for that, you just brought up a good memory I had forgotten about!

So, yes there are people who do it.. and I just did the math.. If you already had an AP (heck even if you didn't) and could get the cheapest rate at the All Stars ($50/night) for 30 nights, it would be $1500 a month. Still cheaper than my mortgage, and alot of people's rent.. hmm have to bring that one up to DH! It is also the equivalent of 1 night in the presidential suite at the Contemporary, just to put things in perspective.

It might actually be do-able if the hotel at DTD offers the $20/night rate again.. then it would only be $600 for the month.

Hmm.. this sounds like a good project, maybe I will try it next year!

PS.
Thanks for such an inspiring thread, now I am off and daydreaming. I know only other Dis'ers would understand-- everyone at work would think I am nuts!

We were there for 15 days and that wasn't enough time to do and see the things we wanted to. I spent ten of days at
A S Music, it wasn't fun! After the 2nd cramped night I wanted out!! But it was Spring Break 2001. Everything halfway decent was booked. So, we spent 8 more clostraphobic night there. The worst was the bathroom with men all over the wallpaper staring at you while you tried to take care of business, yecky!!

yes, we have stayed for a total of 5 weeks last year.

It all started with my new best friend who I met right here on disboards. Several years ago, we met, (both from the New Orleans area, but still 40 minutes from each other) so we decided to go to disney together. That year priceline was just getting started and we stayed off the grounds on the west side, for 16 nights.

The next year we stayed 3 weeks, then the next we stayed 4 weeks and last year we stayed 5 weeks.

We always had a premium annual pass, so we could do water parks and disney quest when it was too hot. Some times we stayed on the grounds if we could get a good rate, if not we did priceline. Last year we ended up with a timeshare getaway for $1,500.00 for a month, and we split it. (A full kitchen, 1 bedroom with a sofa bed) We would go to the grocery and get snacks and drinks and used our vouchers if we were going to eat on grounds.

We had a blast, but unfortunately, we did not get to go this year. My husband said that the kids needed to see some other parts of the country. (so we did the grand canyon), it was great, but now I can not wait to get back to disney. I am hoping for thanksgiving. We do not go unless we have annual passes. I just can not see paying for 5 or 6 day tickets.

Just in case you are wondering, our husbands would fly back home and go to work, and we got to stay and play with the kids. Then they would fly back at the end of the trip and then we would head home.

We got to do so many things, but I never wanted to leave. I could just live there. Now of course I am spoiled, and even the thought of a 3 or 4 day trip does not seem worth the trouble of packing.

I wish we lived in Orlando, but maybe it would get old, but I sure would love to try it.

That is sooooo awesome tink3!!!! I am a teacher, and married to a great guy that hates disney!!!! I know..... but anyways so my two DD's and I went this summer for 10days, and I really want to spend a whole month next summer. I plan on buying my AP's one at a time (as I get the money) and then activating them when we go summer 2005, but have to admit staying a whole month in a hotel on site or off is going to take some creative budget planning. Thanks for your reply.

yes it was really great. Creative is a good word for it, but we like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The fast food places at the crossroads was a good stop.

When we did not have the kitchen, we would use a hot plate or a pot to heat water for things.

After a while, the kids stop asking for things at the end of the rides, so you do not need a lot of money for gifts and things.

After that, I just try and convince my husband that I will have to spend that much money anyway to entertain the kids at home.

Hope we will be able to do it again, I miss it so much.
