You guys i just got back from my moms house and you will nevr guess what i got. See my dad(one of the most amazing loving man in the wold) died almost 3 years ago and believe it or not we are just now going through "his office" spare room in there house but was "papa's office" anyway one of the last trips we took daddy on was DL gee almost 8yrs ago, Anyhow to make a long story longer daddy loved it we have some incrediable pictures, but as not to bore you i'll continue. Well while we were there i know he fell in love with Disney but till tonight i didnt realise how much he must have loved it. See Daddy was a stamp collector since childhood you should see the stacks of stamp albums but tonight we were looking in some and found some pages he marked in the notes to remember DLtrip with Lisa and family. You guys should see these stamps i have no idea where he ordered them from they are Disney chacters from other countries like the page Dominica the first one is a 1/2c with Mickey playing with an octopus the 2nd is 1c is goofy playing a guitar standing on a rocking horse... he has up to 10c which has Horace horsecollar playing a tuba?then he has a set fromAntigua which goes from 1/2c to 10c also. i didnt know Disney was popular in these countries nor did i know Disney was on real postage. Can anyone give me any info on these like how old they areetc? Oh you guys should see the ones from Antigua if i can get a friend to scan them on i will. Sorry to rattel on but thanks for any info on these. Lisa

Hi! I don't much about the stamps, I have bought some off of Ebay tho for my son.

Hopefully someone here can help or even direct you (and I: I am curious now too!)

I am so sorry to hear you lost your father, he sounds like he was an amazing man. I am glad you have wonderful memories of him!

Thank you Lynnie, i have never visited the collectors board it's made me laugh tonight. I needed it cant sleep. I am hopping to get the one stamp missing from the set fromDominica of the i assume 9c and then have both sets framed to put next to some of the framed pinned sets we own. We love getting an collecting pins but i dont think i even have a fraction of the knowledge you guys on this board have. We accidently or should i say DH bought one pin our 2nd trip to wdw in 2000 and now 4 trips latter we could have probably bought a nice used car, but boy do we have memories!!! Please if anyone knows about these stamps or how to finish the set it would be sooo wonderful. Thanks and ~PIXY DUST~to all.

Sounds like a cool find, Lisa. :)

I've heard a lot of countries like Antigua do a lot of commemorative and special stamps like the ones you found to help raise money. They know that collectors in the US and other countries will buy them.

To be honest, I don't recall seeing much in the way of stamps discussed here. Have you tried searching on google.com for "stamp collecting" or "philatelist"? I did a search and got several hits, including stamps.org, the American Philatelic Society's web site.

Good luck! :)

I don't know if this will help or not but I have quite a few sets of stamps with Disney characters from other countries that I ordered from International Collectors Socitey.

Some of the countries/stamps include:

From Grenada:

The Aristocats
Bambi
Dumbo
The Fox and the Hound

Sleeping Beauty
Snow White
Alice in Wonderland
Cinderella
Peter Pan
Pinocchio
Sorcerer Mickey

The Gambia:
Happy 60th Birthday Mickey
Mickey Through the Years

St. Vincent:
Beauty and the Beast (3 sets)

Guyana:
Aladdin (3 sets)
Winnie the Pooh

Hope this helps. Again the company I got all mine from was International Collectors Socitey.

The address I have for them is:

It has been a while since I got these stamps, but I would assume they would still be around.
