Has anyone ever rented points before?

Two weeks ago I went to the Rent/Trade forum and rented some points. I paid a deposit via PayPal and received my confirmation numbers. I was told once I get the actual confirms in the mail (they are sent to the owner first and then he forwards to me) I will pay the remainder. It has been two weeks since I paid the deposit and Disney has not yet sent the confirms out to him yet. I know when I make reservations on my own with MS the confirm is to me within a week. I am a little nervous. Tell me everything will be OK!

The first time I rented points it took about two weeks for the member to get the confirmation. Then she scanned it in and sent me a copy via e-mail before snail-mailing it to me.

This last time it took almost a month to get the confirmation for my rented reservation, but I think that was largely due to the Holidays! I know that MS is really busy right now, the gal I made my first reservation with as a member said that I wouldn't get the confirmation for about 14 days. :)

Hi There. Just to ease your mind a bit we recently rented points and the DVC owner made the ressie on 1/8/09, but Disney did not mail him the orginial until 1/15/09. The DVC member sent me the original paperwork with the envelope to show when the ressie was postmarked to him. Don't worry...I am sure all will be fine:)

I've rented points 4 times without a problem. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the paper confirmation to be sent from Disney and then it will need to be forwarded on to you.
I think this is especially true if you made the reservation for a far off date. Your paperwork might take longer to arrive.
If you are nervous- ask the person you rented from to call you on a cell phone and call DVC on their land line and let you listen in while they confirm the reservation.
I've done this!

If the points you rented were Developer Points, then it could take awhile. MS has to send the reservation request to another team who books the ressie, then the confirmation gets sent out.

I just rented points for the first time at the first of the year. It took four days to get my conf. It was sent to the owner who forwarded it on to me. I would not worry.

I've had it be close to a month before getting confirmations in the mail. I also had one reservation that I did not get the confirmation until after I had actually changed it. That was approx 3 months after reserving. Then I got the original confirmation and the cancellation and the new one!

I wouldn't worry that it's been 2 weeks but can understand your being anxious about it.

I just received 3 confirmations at one time. We are taking a family trip, I had some one day stays plus a 2 BR stay. They all arrived together. I would not worry.

Agreed about not worrying yet. We booked our trip on January 13th and so far, I've only gotten a scanned copy (the regular is in the mail on its way).

Good luck and hope you have a great trip!

I own and have never rented, but it has taken weeks to get my own confirmations.

I made a reservation using DP points on the 24th of Jan and still haven't recvd a confirmation. I'm starting to get worried but everytime I call they say they can see that I made the ressie.

i rented points from someone in 2007 and this year and it took a few weeks if not longer to receive the paper . we leave in two weeks and my sister has not received hers yet, but we have rented from this person before nad trust her so i am not worried, we ahve the confirmation numbers.

don't worry. Renting is an absolute blessing for those of us who just can't buy in at this time!!

I would keep in regular contact with your "landlord" just to be sure they are keeping on it for you.

Ditto. I never pay attention to the paper copies anyway because I just look online to make sure the reservation is correct. Then whenever the paper version comes, I just file it away. I know it takes a long time to get them though.

This is definately good to know I haven't purchased my points yet but I would of panicked had I not known about the delay.

ask if the ressie number can be copied and pasted into an e-mail to you from the dvcmember website. I recently rented to a freind and it tooka while for the paperwork so I was able to copy and pasted from my account. It looked like this....

1) Arrival Date 01.16.2009 Departure Date 01.21.2009
Resort / Experience Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort Accommodation
Dedicated 2-Bedroom
Reservation Number ****03***773
Vacation Points Used 189

It is easy enought to use and fast to prove the ressie is there.

Of course the one you receive will have all the numbers and no stars.

If they were Developer Points it takes forever to get a confirmation. They go through a different system than the normal points. And a lot of DPs are being rented right now.

We rented points from a member but we were only a week out from going. The owner sent us the confirmation via email so I could print it out. We didn't have any trouble checking in.
