We are at WDW for 4 days & then on a 7 day DCL cruise. We were trying to figure out if there would be a way to mail dirty clothes & stuff home from our resort home, rather than taking them on the boat or having do lots of laundry.

If you've done this, please explain how. Thanks in advance.

Yup! We usually ship a big box home every trip so we have less to carry on the plane. We stay at the Boardwalk and use their shipping center. One time we shipped a HUGE box with our Disney Florist Christmas tree and other stuff we bought and couldn't fit into our suitcases - I thought it was going to cost a fortune, but it was only around $20. It arrived the day after we got home!

We just did this in February and it was super cheap!!! It was $20 for a huge box. It arrived at our home in about 3 business days too. We will definitely do this again.

We routinely send some items to the resort then send them back home after staying at OKW. The last time was just last week when DW sent some of her things back home after staying at OKW with her Mom for the week.

When necessary we collapse one or two cardboard FedEx boxes to carry in our luggage and simply fill the boxes up, put a label on them and drop them off at the front desk. When sending things back we've always found the front desk to be very helpful by calling to arrange for pick-up. Although we've never needed the service I believe the front desk has packaging supplies to help you if necessary. We exclusively use FedEx and have NEVER had a problem when sending our things in either direction.

We are thinking about sending everything except a carry-on bag down for our May trip. We ebay so we figured we'd just pack a roll of tape in the box with a return label to ship everything back. We were spoiled in Feb when the In-laws brought all of our luggage in their car. All we had on the plane were carry-ons and we were out of the airport in 20 minutes!

I refuse to do much, if any laundry on vacation. I spend too much time playing, we stay in a studio, and we have more than enough clothes for a long trip. We sometimes save some underwear or socks that are on their last leg/threads  & toss them as we go.

Thanks for the info about mailing from the front desk. :cool1:

To those of you that mail things down there, how far in advance do you do this? How many days ahead of time will they hold your mail?

We usually check-in on a Sunday so we ship our things to OKW on the Monday before we check-in. We've found that FedEx "Express Saver" which is their three business day service works best for us. We're able to track our items on the FedEx website and our things have never been delivered late. Sometimes delivery occurs a day earlier than expected. By tracking the package we would be able to adjust and bring additional items with us should our ltems not arrive by the Friday before we check-in. We've never had a problem with our things arriving on time, but we do like the idea of having an extra day for delivery (Friday) in the unlikely event something goes wrong at FedEx.

The front desk will hold your items until you check-in. They usually have a note on our check-in record keying them in to our waiting package and usually offer to have the package(s) delivered to our villa by the bell staff.

Address the package to the resort you'll be staying at using the address listed on your confirmation. Include on the package(s) instructions to "Hold for Guest DVC Mary, Check-in Date of xxxx xx, xxxx", I put our mobile number on the package as well but it has never been used. This has become so routine for us that we now have a FedEx account with automatic billing to our credit card and FedEx has provided us with preprinted forms to use. Very...very convenient.

Thanks for the info. We will probably use UPS and send it the Monday before we leave, that way we can track it and if it's not there by Sat. we can arrange to take extra with us on Sunday. Sorry for the run-on sentence!

We usually ask the store for an old box, take it to our room and fill it up, and then ship it from the front desk. It's great to have less stuff to lug home.
