DISCLAIMER:
I absolutely do not want to be flamed for this post but am sincerely curious about something. This is complete heresay, not my opinion, suggestion or idea... but I would just like to clear something up.

Last week, I visited with my brother who I only see every year or so. I was talking about WDW (of course! :rotfl: ) and he mentioned that he wouldn't ever want to go there with kids. I asked why? :confused3 He said he had heard that every couple of months... a kid goes missing from Disney and there is the same MO and stuff. I have never heard anything about this, he said it is on the news sometimes.

Could he be talking about maybe Disneyland??? I can't imagine something like this going unnoticed by us.

I don't like Disney being slandered this way and I want to come back with a good defence. :wizard:

Could be the Urban Myth(s). There are several floating around on the internet that simply aren't true. One of the other posters found them somewhere. I think she found them on snopes.com.

Anyone....?

Where do you think all the little "dolls" in It's a Small World come from? :p

i dont know about children missing from wdw, but there have been a few wdw related deaths on mission space, etc. maybe thats what he's thinking.

:lmao:

I about spit Dietpepsi all over the monitor

:rotfl2:

If a child breaks wind at WDW it makes headlines on CNN. No way a thing such as you report could get swept under the rug.

true that.

i am lol about the small world dolls :dance3:

Lemme guess: the 'MO' was, the kidnappers cut Susies hair, dyed it (without anyone noticing her sitting there while the color processes for 30 minutes, with hair clippings all over the floor), they change her clothes and tell her to Shut Up Or Else, and then merrily walk out the front gates RIGHT IN FRONT OF SECURITY!!! Horrors!!!

Sorry. I'm really not flaming you, I'm just getting a laugh out of the thread since it's posted again and again and again (and again, and again.....)

Try looking here for your answer: Snopes

or more specifically, here: Disney kidnappings

Nope, it's not true. If you've ever seen Disney in action when a child goes missing, you'd be amazed. Often you only see a few CM's helping, but Disney has an extremely organized system for such emergencies. And no, they couldn't sweep that sort of thing under the rug. What parent, for any price, would not report a kidnapping when it's their own child? And when, if ever, has this been on the news?

Ask yourself this: if your brother (or sister, or friend, or co-worker) knows, what makes you think the police wouldn't know? It's a good 'scare' story, but totally untrue. I have never, ever, heard it on a news story, or in the Sentinel (who, by the way would LOVE LOVE LOVE to splash something like THAT across the front page).

This stems back from when the nutballs were boycotting Disney.

Disney likes Gays.
Disney likes Child Molesters.
Oh they cover up all sorts of crimes.
If something bad happens to you, Disney will make you disappear.
Disney doesn't even call the police or medics when someone has a heart attack.
Disney is a country all by itself. It's not officially part of the United States.

The list went on and on and on.

LOL Didn't you ever see the episode of Family Guy where Peter takes Stewie to Disney World? HAHA that's what happens!

My brother ran away at disney once. I beat him in checkers and he ran away. He came back to our site at fort wilderness in a limo with a couple CMs.

The kidnapping myth has been going around about Wal-Mart and other places as well as Disney. Here it is debunked on Snopes:
http://www.snopes.com/horrors/parental/kidnap.asp

And there are so many urban legends and stories about Disneyland, Disney World, Walt Disney, and Disney movies that Snopes has several pages devoted to all things Disney:

Actually, I think they just freeze some children so that they may serve as Walt's Minions when the day of the Great Thawing comes about.

NOOOOOOO!!!!!! Not the Great Thawing!!!!

What I want to know is, will Walt's frozen head still be able to bark out orders to his Minions, since he doesn't have a spinal cord...or a body?

Sound like Vegas!!

All those Urban legends are funny. What's funnier (or sadder) on your point of view is how many people believe them. ;)

Thanks guys! I was absolutely certain that someone could debunk the rumour!!! :cool1:

And yes... that episode of Family Guy is hilarious. :lmao: I love the part where he is all ticked off and wonders why they were on a plane and driving through Florida until he sees the WDW sign and goes bananas.

Call me a bad mom...but my son (who's only been to DL once and will be going to WDW for his first time next month) actually thinks that the DISNEY song is wrong!!

...It's a tiny, tiny world... :teeth:

I love the line: "If you're try to escape, they'll make you act in a Tim Allen movie!" :lmao:

As far as the original topic goes...I grew up in California and NEVER, EVER heard a news story about kids being kidnapped at DL!

We would definitely hear about kidnappings at Disney.
