Has anyone ever haggled with Virgin Holidays

I am currently pricing up a holiday for next August and depending on our options it is around £7k to £8k (seriously thinking about AKL this time). Virgin are not that much more than DIY especially as they have the 2 Park Universal Ticket offer at the moment. They are a few hundred more than DIY but the advantage is I only have to pay a deposit with VH but I must pay for my flight upfront if I go DIY. So, I was thinking of try to get VH down a bit, is it worth it? Has anyone ever done this?

By the way VH have just upped their cashback on quidco to 4% in case it helps anyone, every little helps.

They might do it..but probably an easier way is going into a VH travel shop if there is one nearish to you - they will usually give you a discount if you ask.

Someone I work with got them to agree to two premium economy seats for the price of one if she booked there and then (which she did) last year. I tried that with them the other week when I booked for next year, but they wouldn't let me! She said they couldn't offer anything extra as they were already offering 20% off to FV's that weekend, so not sure if it would have worked any other time. Probably not!!!!! Worth a try though . . .

Not Virgin but Jetsave knocked us a few hundred off the flydrive price in March.

We said we would book it now if they could do it for £x and they did.

I'd definitely try!

Have you looked at complete Orlando? I believe they will allow you to reserve the flight with a deposit and they seem to be a heck of a lot cheaper than VH.

Thanks for the input, there is a VH shop in Debenhams in Reading so sounds like my best bet is to go in and give it a try..nothing to lose.
