Has Anyone Ever Had A Cortisone Shot?

Three weeks to go until WDW, and my 'trick knee' has been acting up. (Nice timing, huh?)

I had meniscus surgery for a pretty bad tear and other damage almost 10 years ago, and it's been screwed up ever since.

Anyway, an Ortho. Dr. gave me a cortisone shot yesterday in the knee, and can't say it's feeling better yet. Matter of fact, it's pretty darn stiff and sore all over.
I should've asked more questions about what to expect with the shot, but at the time I was just wanting to get the shot done and over with, lol. (Wasn't really that bad, but wouldn't want to get many more)
I think the Doc said it would be sore at the injection site for a day or so, but can anyone else relate to the general overall sorness? He probably mentioned it, and didn't register

The Dr. thinks I have chondro-something or other-itus (bad kneecap).

Sorry to ramble...Thanks,

-Mark

I had 2 in my hip...it took a few days to feel better and in fact did feel worse for a day or two. When it kickind in...I had relief for 3 years!

Good Luck...hope you feel better soon::yes::

have had them in my back and foot .. looking foward to one next week in my foot (yeah rite), hate them hurt like heck.. well any way it didnt work in my back or my foot. that is just my case.

Hey Mark, nice to see you.

I have had several for arthritis in my knees, and yes, they do give you quite a ziiiiiiinngggg while getting it!!! My knees were a bit achy for a day or so, then, after maybe a day, some temporary relief occurred, though, as said, temporary. I have been using Vioxx for about 18 months, and had great relief, but, with it being pulled from the market over safety concerns and my not using it, I sure am feeling those aches again.

Do hope you get some relief, Mark. And maybe we will see each other next month, our WDW's overlap by 2 days, I leave for home on the 10th. ::MickeyMo Again, nice to see you. :wave2:

LOL when you call it your trick knee ROTFLOL
DH has had 9 knee surgeries and many shots. He says it could take 3-4 days before it will start feeling better. Ice and heat, elevation ,if possible, are great relief.
Hope your TRICK KNEE feels better soon!!

I had 2 cortz. shots right between my toes (OuUUUwCH) for a neuroma. After the first one it felt great, but the doc said oh lets do another just to be on the safe side. Big mistake, it made it feel worse all over again. I still suffer with it if I'm not wearing the correct shoes.

Many times, for my sinuses & ears. DH has had them for his back. I also give my dd a nightly shot and I get weekly allergy shots.

So if you were very tense when you got the shot it will have an "overall" muscle soreness but you should be feeling a little relief in your problem area.

Perhaps it will pick up in a couple of days.

oh, I had knee surgry which did not take, I need 2 knee replacements
that being said,
I have had shots in my back-up and down
shoulders
knees
achillies tendon
wrists
I think just about every body part!

I hate at the end of the shot....feeling the pressure.

I had a shot in my wrist for carpal tunnel. They actually numbed my wrist with one needle before getting the cortisone shot. That is because the cortisone went right into the middle of my wrist. After the numbing wore off my wrist felt worse then before. It took a good 3 days before the pain went away. After that the carpal disappeared and never came back.

I had it in my wrist for carpal tunnel syndrome. The dr. hit my medial nerve!! OUCH!! My hand and wrist swelled and I was unable to use my hand for 2 weeks!! It took about 1-2 months before I had some relief and haven't had any problems since (3 years ago). At the time it was excrutiating!! But in retrospect the best thing I did!!

good luck

Mark I get them all the time for my neck and back and yes it can feel stiff and sore for a couple of days. Then it starts feeling better. I always know the day after my shots is gonna be painful so Im prepped for it.

When you first get it, it hurts like... well no words describe it but after the fact it feels soooo much better. Mine lasted about 6 months or so. I have OA and RA in my hips and knees :(

My girlfriend got it done to her ankle and it didn't help.
