We are leaving in 2 days and my mother-in-law has decided that she wants to go to Disney with us. It is DD, DM, and DD-5, and DD 5 at the ALL Stars from Sunday March 20- Sunday March 27. Everything is booked and cannot change the reservations, WHAT SHOULD WE DO?? Is it OK for her to be in our room with us?

I'm sure you know it is 4 in a value. Even if you want to sneak someone in, where would you fit them??? The rooms at the values are very small, you'd be tripping over one another. No way would I ever share a room with my MIL even at a deluxe.

Welcome to the DIS, Marciagms!

The occupancy for a value resort is four people plus one child under two in a crib. I agree with the previous poster that trying to sneak a fifth person in the room at a value resort would be much to cramped. The rooms are small, and it would be a very looooooong week.

Hope you have a great trip, though!

Karen

As the other posters said the rooms are really small. It is even tight with 4 people in a room. Besides the fact that the occupancy is 4, trying to fit 5 people in those rooms would truly ruin your vacation.

Sorry ... it's really not going to work. The All Stars are very small and there are only 2 double-sized beds. You may be able to get another room, although it may be tough because it's Spring Break.

As all have said...."DON'T do it!

It would be Very...Very...crowded :crowded:

Maybe you could move to a resort with a bigger room occupancy and have your MIL pay the upcharge? Or even better she should get her own room. You might be able to ask for adjoining or connecting rooms...if connecting you could move the girls in with her... Explain to her Disney only allows 4 in a room and that you've been told that the rooms at All-stars are really small...which they are...

This is going to be our family's 4th trip to Disney in the past 5 years. We have stayed at the All-Star Movies and the All-Star Music. Having 2 young children with us does not make it really crowded. What do you think Disney would do if they found out? I'm sure people do it all of the time. If we could we would pay extra for her to stay with us. It is not like we are trying the entire planning time of months to have 5 people in one room.

I have already called to try to change the reservations and there is not one room available on Disney grounds!

I don't think Disney would kick you out (especially if you explained the situation), but my concern would be getting a key card for everyone in the room. They may only see fit to issue the maximum 4 cards, thus making it difficult for all of your to do EMH together ? :confused3

DH, DS and I stayed at All Star Music when DS was 4 - it was very tight as the rooms are quite small

the only reason DS & I are returning to a value (Pop) is that DH is staying home! and its only for 5 of our 14 nights

They won't check the kids' cards for EMH. I never carry my DD's keycard since we all have APs.

Oh ok...thanks Robin. I know they checked my kids' key cards at AK this past Nov. But my youngest was 11, so maybe since the OP's children are younger they won't. It shouldn't be a problem then---except for the tight fit of course !

As many others have stated, the room occupancy is 4 plus one child under the age of three. Any additional and you will be inviolation of the fire code regulations. Disney is very stringent with these codes because it is for the safety of the guests. You may just have to tell her that you have no room for her and she will have to join you on another trip. Tell her there are no other rooms available for the five of you, even off site. If only she had made her decision much earlier, you would have welcomed her with open arms. Unfortunately, she cannot join you on this trip unless she can find another place to stay.

As for checking resort IDs, they have checked every single one of us, including our son for morning EMH into the parks. Plus they are matching resort IDs to other forms of identification for the evening EMH. Your MIL will be very embarrassed if she cannot get into the park because she doesn't have a resort ID.

Disney could kick you out of you have too many people in the room. It could be very embarrassing to your family to not have any place to stay at all.

They checked all of our resort card keys for EMH at all four parks. This included my DD who is 8 but small enough that most people think she is around 5. We also have AP's and the front desk CM at Pop told me to make VERY sure that we had all four keys at all times. I think at this point your only choice is to maybe look into offsite lodging or going without your mother in law. Last minute changes for a Disneyworld vacation during spring break get very complicated! I hope it all works out and that you have a great trip. Good luck!

I just looked on line at the Disney website and they are showing availability at the AS's for 3/22-3/27. Unfortunately, I can't see 3/20 or 3/21 because you have to be 4 days out. As you've asked what you should do, I think you should call again about booking an additional room for MIL. Maximum room occupancy is 4, so no, bottom line it's not alright that she stays in the same room as you. Yes, I'm sure others do it, but it doesn't make it right.

Appears that you've already made up your mind. I doubt you will get any encouragement to break the rules here! Nevertheless, you will always find those who do. Don't do it.

Thanks to all of you for your input! Hopefully we can find her a hotel room and she can ride the hotel bus to Disney.
Thanks again! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

oh my gosh. Just do it. Have one of the kids sleep on the floor, and don't worry about it. To get around the room key situation, either skip EMH or say you lost your key and get another. No one is going to be looking over your shoulder or doing midnite bed checks. There are thousands of guests at the all stars, no one is going to notice. I would do the same thing if I were you, and I will also add I happily spent a week this summer in a hotel room with my MIL, FIL, and SIL. DH wasn't even on this vacation!! And we had a great time.

As I mentioned, the Disney site is showing availabilty for 3/22-3/27 at the AS's. You can go online right now and book it, then call CRO about adding the 2 other nights that you need. If they can accommodate connecting rooms, that's an extra bonus.
