I guess you can call me a dreamer but sometimes I just get so depressed seeing how Disney offers deals all during December but not at Christmas. I would love to be able to go earlier in December but my problem is my husband is a high school teacher and he is not allowed to take a vacation during the school year so we are limited by that to travel only during the school holidays. My question is, has anyone ever gotten any kind of deal during the Christmas week...such as free dining or a AAA rate?? I am just curious if there is some hope out there for saving a bit of money, or do I just have pixie dust in my eyes??? Thanks in advance for any responses!:hippie:

Normally for deals for Christmas week you have to check in no later then December 23rd. If you can do that then there discounts sometimes available like this year, which ends tomorrow, Oct 20th

Think about this......This is absolute PEAK (higher than peak) season. If the parks are totally packed, overflowing with people, and hotels can charge rack rate and STILL have people lined up to get a room......why would there be discounts? If you had a choice between selling something to someone at a maximum inflated price or a deeply discounted price, wouldn't you choose to put more money in YOUR pocket?;)

Our check in will be December 23, 2008, because we have to wait for school to let out. I wish schools would let the kids and teachers out a little before the day before Christmas Eve!! My DH even said he would get in trouble for taking one day off before vacation started, which always gets me because many students do just that and take a extra day off to leave for their Christmas vacations!!

Yes, sadly I do see your point, from a purely capitalist money making stand point, but if they know that they will be able to fill every room up, why not throw a small bone out to people so they don't feel gouged by such high prices? I really wouldn't expect too much but how about a "Happy Holiday" plan or something? As I said, we are really restricted by our work schedules and at least in 2008 our only vacation option was during the Christmas season ( I am finishing up college during the summer and easter break is when my DH's family comes to visit us), so we just don't have the option. But yes you are absolutely right, Disney is a business not a fairy Godmother who grants your dearest wish...but wouldn't it be nice if they did?:lmao:

If school gets out on the 22nd, you could always leave directly from there and fly to WDW as long as you arrive on the 22nd! Might be tiresome, but it could be done!

AND you could always look at the rates for Swan/Dolphin. They have "teacher" rates and are currently offering something for the holidays (don't know what.....haven't looked, but there's an ad at the top of the page!)

Those are great ideas, especially the Swan/Dolphin one, however DH is very insistant on going to WL for the Holidays, plus we have a sentimental attachment to the place, we were married there in October of 1998, so it will also be our 10 year anniversary (plus 2 months:goodvibes ). I guess I am stuck with being a penny pincher till next year! But, I am definately going to check about coming in on the 22nd, thanks!!!:)

I am at SSR in 1 bed villa for $222 a night for 8 nights so leaving on 27th. Not Xmas week exactly but because I booked my 1st night on 19th I git the whole 8 nights at the cheaper rate (using the 40% off code). I think to stay on the usual rate for nights after 20th was over $500, would never pay that.

2007 is the last year for this pricing structure. Beginning in 2008, hotels rates will adjust night by night, so checking on on the 22nd or 23rd will only save you a little on the first night or two. Beginning on the 24th, the rates will holiday rack rate which will be sky high.

If you see the room you want for Christmas week, consider yourself lucky and book it. Rooms fill up fast and full for any holiday time -- let alone a large discount.

I was able to use the 40% pin code I got over Christmas! As long as the dates begin in the time offered you could book up to 14 days! This over Christmas too!

That must have been a reservation booked under the previous method of pricing. If they are available still -- GREAT. :thumbsup2

I was able to book the 40 % off code for Dec 18-27th. We got the 40 % off the 2 rooms we have booked. I don't know what the actual amount is because we did it as a package.

But for 9 nights, dining plan, 9 day hoppers, 2 rooms, for Dh, me, 15 yr, 14 yr, 12 yr and 3 yr it was roughly 4800.00 staying at Pop Century.

We stayed at the YC with a AP room only discount (40 %) Dec. 25 to Dec. 30, 2005. I was surprised because I made the reservation about a month before the trip. We wanted the WL, but it was completely booked. I believe the BWI and maybe BC had AP rates for the same time.
