Has anyone ever gone from Deluxe to Moderate and LIKED it?

I've only ever stayed at the CR, the Poly and POR and I prefer POR out of all three of them. It's just so pretty. :)

I had a friend ask me this to when trying to make reservations. They have no children & wanted to know should they stay moderate or deluxe. My opinion was....it is DISNEY! First there are kids everywhere. We have stayed at GF,CBR,POLY & we are now scheduled to stay at Coronado SPrings for the first time.

We are in the parks so much that we are basically using the room to shower & sleep. If you are looking to save a few bucks...go Moderate. IF money is not a factor...go deluxe. Either way you are at DISNEY! ENJOY ::MickeyMo

I'll be the contrarian in this crowd. I'm afraid I was extremely disappointed in the CBR after staying at the BWI, WL, YC, and GF.

I think if you're a commando raid type visitor, spending avery waking moment away from the room, then a moderate will give you a comfortable bed in a nice room, with nice surroundings. Restaurants, on the other hand don't match up. When I was at the CBR's food court I felt like I was in the food court of a shopping mall.

If, in contrast, you spend some time in the parks, but also wish to relax in centrally located surroundings with amenities and activities, then the moderates will be a disappointment. They have pools and grounds, but not much else. If your idea of relaxation is sitting on a balcony maybe reading or people watching while enjoying a a nice snack and beverage, you'll only get that at a deluxe. Plus the deluxe resorts have far superior (and more expensive) dining options.

I like to come back to the resort and relax, and when I can't, I feel "lost and all alone in the jungle."

Wow! Thanks so much for all the truly helpful opinions! My problem with outside corridors is simply that my only experience with them has been at kind of dumpy motels that we've ended up at (unintentionally) on long car trips.
We stayed at the former Dixie Landings and the outside corridors drove us nuts. There was always a steady stream of hotel guests marching past our window. We ended up leaving the drapes closed most of the time. The grounds were beautiful and we did enjoy the food court.

We constantly go back and forth between mods and deluxes, we have favorite resorts and switch back and forth based on how much we like the resort. We just got back from CBR and will be going to BWI in Feb and probably splitting next summer's stay between CBR and WL to accommodate everyone's tastes in the family.

Ive gone from Deluxe (Grand Floridian) to Value (Pop Century) :) All I can say is, I didn't miss the Grand Floridian LOL!!! Even at the great rate we had ($199.00), it was such a HUGE dissapointment. We thought we would be experincing the top Disney had to offer, but to be honest it wasn't anything special. Since we really don't have the $$$ to normally stay in a deluxe (or even a moderate :( ) .....we wanted it to be great. On the other hand Pop Century at $69.00 was AMAZING. We all LOVED returning to the resort to see the sights and just have fun.
