Has anyone ever eaten at Tony's at the Magic Kingdom?

Despite it's location, and the fact that I go to WDW every chance I get...I had never tried it! So this past July, I made it my mission to go there. I was alone, the place was not busy at all, so take this into consideration, but my server was perfect! She was attentive, talkative (but not too talkative), and seemed to be so for all of her tables. I ordered their new Italian wedding soup and a tomato and mozzarella salad with bread, oil and herbs. It was delicious! Every bit! Being alone, I was able to scope out neat little details, like on the far right window....if you look out, there is a scene of Lady and Tramp in the alleyway eating their spaghetti. You would never see this if you didn't look for it! The Host, Herb, was as sweet as can be! I have to say, it was a wonderful experience!
This is good to know. It makes me want to go back and try it again even more.

The only thing horribly wrong with Tony's is the food. The atmosphere is great, the theming (is that spelled right?) is great, the architecture is pure Victorian charm. Just don't eat the food. Run, do not walk, to the Plaza.

Kevin on the Disunplugged podcast reviewed it awhile back you can listen to the review just look on the archives of the podcast..from what I remember it was not a positive review, Kevin in my opinion is pretty accurate in his reviews

I only go there for Lunch and sandwiches. All but once I've eaten in the front area, which lets you see out to the MK.

I liked the lunch. The sandwiches were always good.

I had dinner there once and didn't care for it. But we make a point to eat there at lunch every trip.

:)

We were there for dinner on Sept 9 - before MNSSHP. Sadly, this is the only TS Resturant we will not be returning to. We arrived early and were seated early, which turned out to be a blessing, because the meal took well over an hour to get through because of the extrememly slow service. It was just disorganized. And, it was not that busy, there were a lot of empty tables. And, there were a lot of servers, I am certain ours only had 2 to 3 tables, but he was awful.

A PP hit the nail on the head - if you are going because you want that "Italian" feel, you may be disappointed. We were.

And the food, it was only OK.

We actually did not really like to food at Akershus either, but would probably return because of the atmosphere, service and dessert. Here, there was really nothing that WOWed us.

Tony's was OK when we went a couple of weeks ago, but it was far from spectacular. If you want good authentic Italian food, I advise going to the Italian restaurant in Epcot.

We ate there in 2005 and despite all the bad reviews we thought the food was good. It is not a theme restaraunt that you would go to for the atmosphere like O'Hana's, WCC, or CRT. But the food was good and my DS then 5 enjoyed the singers who were in the lobby.

Twenty years ago, Tony's was a must for us, children enjoyed the breakfast and characters. Through the years the food has gotten worse and there is no way I'm going to pay 18-22 dollars for a plate of spaghetti, they just out priced themselves through the years as with alot of our old time favorites. If I won't pay the price at home for a spaghetti, sure won't pay that in WDW.

Meh...it's just fair to middling. In all the years we'd been going to WDW, we had never eaten there. Last night we went to MK and it's the only table service place we could get into so we tried it. The food was okay...not bad, but nothing to write home about and overpriced for what you got. Hubby had a seafood pasta and he would have liked the sauce to be more flavorful. I had the shrimp scampi and liked it because there were lots of sundried tomatoes and garlic. The calamri was pretty good, as were the bread and oil. Service was fine, with iced teas refilled promptly. The spumoni was okay...hubby's cheesecake was yummy. It's pretty much mediocre Italian food at park prices...portion sizes were good so it will fill your belly, but you're paying for the convenience.

I wouldn't confuse price with everything else. It falls in line with every other TS in WDW, so for Disney, it isn't "expensive." I wouldn't pay a lot of the prices to eat at home what I pay in Disney. The DDE (or now TIW:scared:) card is the trick though, 20% off food and beverages brings Disney food prices about in line with eating out at home.

I'm going to move this over to our restaurant board. I'm sure you'll hear even more about this restaurant over there.

DH and I have dined there the past 3 times we were at WDW.
We enjoy it every time. :thumbsup2

We wear our Anniversary Buttons and have a great time!

It's by no means a fancy Italian Restaurant, but like another poster mentioned, it is "Old School." It's a great break from the Hustle and Bustle of the Magic Kingdom. :thumbsup2

Here's a pic of something I get every time we're there...

I believe it was the March 4, 2008 episode. To say it was not a positive review is putting it very mildly. Kevin did not have a good experience at this place. If it were me, I would go to the Crystal Palace.

We had tried all of the other MK table service meals several times, so we decided to try Tony's for our last trip (August26 - September 1). I had read all of the negative reviews and I warned my family, but since we were using free dining we figured it was a good excuse to give Tony's a try.

We like Italian food and generally think we are not real picky. We eat from Olive Garden to a private Italian club at home, but we hated Alfredo's in Epcot two years ago (bad food, awful service - maybe one of our most painful table service meals in WDW). What we we think of Tony's???

We really enjoyed it. We have four kids and dh and I and my mom in our party and we all had food we enjoyed -bread, salads, deserts, etc. We were seated promptly with our reservation and the decor was pleasant. We were placed at a rather small table and we were concerned at first, but it turned out to be a non issue - why? Because simply put we had the best service we have ever had at a Disney table service.

Our waitress was so good that she compared favorably to our wait staff on board the Magic following the WDW week. She was superb! One of the very best things she did was walk my kids through the menu as I read the menu for myself - on my goodness what a blessing that was! I think we tipped her like 35%, but she made our meal just awesome!

We went last sept. I got spaghetti. Just okay. My friend got something, (i can't remember what it was) and couldn't eat it. He sent it back and got the steak. it was pretty good. They were very nice about everything. Glad we tried it but won't go back.

We had lunch there in May. We each got the Bianca Flatbread (5 cheeses, basil, oregano, garlic). It was delicious! I've had a lot of pizzas and flatbreads on property over the years, but their's was my favorite. Good, fast service as well. Tony's is now a "Must Do" for us.

As with anything else, if a restaurant catches your eye, try it once. The majority of people may not like it, but you just might. Never know until you see for yourself. :wizard:

Sounds like most people did not like the food and that the service is not all that great.:scared1: I think we will just skip going there and pay to eat at a better place at the Magic Kingdom! So we will for sure get or money's worth and have good food to eat!:thumbsup2 Sounds like LTT wins, I have eaten dinner there before so I know it's good and I know my mom will love it too!

Thanks everyone for not letting me pick a bad place to eat at!:goodvibes
