I saw this on Mousesavers - maybe mods will want to move me to the Budget Board - but they said you could order a double cheeseburger at a counter service (thinking Peco's Bill's or similar) and then ask (maybe pay for) an extra bun to split between two people?

We have an August trip scheduled, and while our two teenage DS's can still scarf down lunch in the park in 90 plus degree weather, DH and I are rarely that hungry and could easily split a double cheeseburger, especially when there's a fixin's bar involved. Not so much looking to save money as not to waste food. Has anyone actually done this?

DH and I have done this numerous times at Cosmic Ray's. We tend to eat there more than any other burger place for CS. Our kids (and us) love to watch the Sonny Eclipse show. We know it by heart, but still love it! Anyway, the bun is somewhere around 80 or 90 cents. HTH!

It works!! You will have to pay for the extra bun - it is about 80 cents...

There was some thread about this on the budget board a while back. I think the buns *may* have gone up in price a bit [I recall someone reporting they were charged $1.99 somewhere, but they were told that is not the case everywhere?]. Another option is to just cut the stacked burger on half. I am not much of a bun lover, so this is would be my preference.

We get the double burger @ peco Bill's and DH takes the top bun and I take the other half. It works for us.

DH and I get wraps and chicken fingers a lot - they're very easy to share without having to buy anything additional - wraps are usually cut in half.

I'd cut the burger in half myself too (not that my husband would ever let me get any of his burger!). It's just less of a hassle. We do share the foot long hot dogs. I take what I want and he gets the rest.

I've gotten the double cheeseburger + a bun and split it between my kids several times....They get as much/more even sharing the fries as they would 2 kids meals...plus its cheaper for me and adds another food option for them when burgers aren't on the kids cs menu.... i've also split wraps and hot dogs too.:goodvibes

This is exactly what we do too. Often we have an early dinner reservation, but still need to eat something at lunch time. We often will share the wrap or chicken fingers and get an extra side item (usually fries). We just need something little to tie us over until dinner. Often when I'm not too hungry, I'll get a kids meal. If we want a burger, we just buy 2 regular burgers. I believe they will sell you regular burgers if you ask (as we do it often). So there is no need to buy a double cheeseburger when you can order 2 regular cheeseburgers....:confused3

Exactly, you're still getting a whole patty just less bread!
