This might be the wrong board to post this on, but I am hoping to find out information about the Dance with Magic! at Disney World. Our dance team is looking at doing it in December of 2013 and I would love to hear people's experiences and any fundraising tips!

:mickeyjum THANK YOU! :santa:

I did Magic Music Days at Disney 14 yrs ago with my dance team when I was 10, I'm assuming they just changed the name. I absolutely loved it, at that time we actually danced in the parks, now they have a nice stage in DTD where the dancers perform. I believe they also do a dance workshop with the kids. When I went I was yo young for the age restrictions they put on the class but I think they lowered the age limit since I went. For fundraising I say sell candy bars all the way. I did door to door and contacted local store about selling outside their stores as well. I know I'm willing to donate a buck when I would never buy the bigger priced fundraisers they have kids do. When selling at the store I literally spoke to every individual as they walked into or out of the store, I didn't sit on a bench on the side yelling out what I have to sell which is what I see so many kids doing these days. I had a "spiel" explaining what I was selling candy bars to raise money to go with my team to dance at wdw. At valentines day we made flowers out of Hershey kisses, kabob sticks and ribbon which we also sold with the candy bars. I also did a garage sale, sold cotton candy at the sale, and all sorts of things to earn money. Lately we have found selling on craigslist to be more profitable if you are selling the "right" stuff. We also booked our flights and hotel separate from the group to save more money.

My parents spent tons of time helping me sell enough candy bars to raise enough to pay for the entire trip. Would it have been easier for them to pick up a couple extra shifts at work? Sure, but it taught me a better lesson about the value of a dollar and working for what you want. Good luck for you and your daughter as you start this process!

Our performance team called Dance Magic with DD 11 goes to perform every January. This year we are going January 24-30. They will perform in DTD and they usually attend several workshops. We are also performing at Universal while we are down there this year. Our kids have different types of fundraisers throughout the year from Yankee Candle, Auto Bell Car wash certificates, Floral punch cards, Scrip cards, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. We also begin making payment installments on the annual Disney trip in July so there are no large amounts due all at once.:thumbsup2

I am really looking forward to the trip. We can make payments too, so that is great. I am just looking for ideas on the cost, if you have to stay in Disney hotels, etc.

We are going to go down and dance in the ABC Parade and then at DTD. my daughters are BEYOND thrilled as am I!

I'm not sure what the ABCParade is but when we went the reason we were pushed to stay on site was that because we were dancing in Magic Kingdom in July and due to levels of closing, staying on property guaranteed our parents access to the parks to see us. I don't see the hard push for that if you are just dancing at DTD. It is nice to stay in the same hotel as the rest of the group for meeting up with friends but isn't necessary. We found when we did it that booking our air and hotel separately from the group(but at the same hotel) saved us tons! And we had much better flight times the group had the leave the hotel at 5am for the flight home and our flight was cheaper and left at a normal time. Think about it, in our case....can't say it about all studios but in our case...the teaching staffs "free rooms and etc..." Was built into the group price.

The ABC Parade is the parade that Disney films at the beginning of December and televises on Christmas Day on ABC.

Yeah I will definitely be booking seperately because we will be heading there early and possibly staying later. Hopefully soon we will know more!

My daughter's dance studio did this about 6 years ago (was called music magic days) and for the dates of our program and workshop we had to stay on site. Park tickets were included.

You may want to post something on one of the dance sites.
