Has Anyone Ever Bothered Your Stroller?

We have been to Disneyland once and DW twice with a stroller and have never had anything taken. This year we are going to take one again and the one we are taking is worth a lot more than our old ones so I am a little nervous :earseek: I saw mentioned on here a snowboard lock for your stroller. String the line through your wheels - not sure if it will work or I will even try. If someone wants a stroller bad enough - they are going to get it no matter what. I thought I had also read that your can't lock your stroller to anything !

And another thing is.....doesn't anybody see these people taking our nametag out and throwing it away?? Not that anybody's gonna do anything about it, but still.........

It has to be people that know what they're doing and do it often. Shame how someone can afford park tickets, but can't afford the cost of stroller rental. Of course in today's world, some people might even think they're free.

WE have had our stroller messed with. Actually, the contents. Our camera and camcorder were stolen out of the basket while we were in the Festival of the Lion King show. I only blame myself for not taking our personal belongings. It was very unfortunate, so PLEASE lable your stroller and take all valuables with you!

About the strollers all looking alike - we purchased the $9 umbrella stroller at WalMart for our last trip and it seemed like everywhere we looked there were just dozens of the same stroller! We put a pin lanyard on the handles to identify ours. Tying something on like a ribbon or getting a stroller storage bag from TRU would make yours easier to find.

We had two umbrella strollers taken on our last trip. We came out of Fantasmic and ours were gone. The CMs who moved them helped us look but they were gone. They might have turned up in lost and found later, but we were leaving early the next morning. I think someone "borrowed" them to take their kids to the exit. Unfortunately, that meant that we had to carry ours. :sad2:

We never had our stroller stolen, but about 3 years ago at MGM, someone stole the batteries out of our misting fan! They didn't just fall out because when I checked the for the batteries, the compartment door was securely closed. :confused3

you're right. For safety/evacuation reasons, you can't lock your stroller to anything.
But, you can lock 2 of the wheels together so it can only be rolled on one set of tires, put the lock across the seat, or lock it so that it can't be folded (that way, someone can take it in the park, but they won't be able to fold it to take it on the trams, buses, or the trunk of their car).

I just had a thought ----- why not take the stroller wrench to WDW and take the wheel off so nobody would swipe it? :)

We have a $1600 "umbrella" stroller for my handicapped son, 10. It looks just like a large stroller, although it can be used as a wheelchair and has tie downs. We have never had any problem with people taking it, although it always generates a lot of interest when we go out(it's a big thing). I guessif it got stolen, we'd have to report it to our insurance. Wonder if we need a rider on it? I never really thought about someone stealing it before.

Has anyone ever had a stroller stolen that was rented from A Baby's Best Friend ? I looked on their website, but I don't see anything re if this were to happen. We are renting from them in December.

:rolleyes1 angel alert...I was thinking LO JACK. If someone steals my stroller I want to be able to track them down! :earseek:

We have taken our stoller to WDW, USO/IofA, BGT, SW, more times that I can possibly try to count. Never had the stroller messed with (except by WDW CM's moving it to a different spot :teeth: ), and never had our belongings touched. Our stroller is not real expensive, but is not real cheap either (cost about $60), and we never leave valuables in it, though we often leave jackets/sweatshirts, bottles of water, diaper bag with DS extra clothes, sunscreen, etc. I have accidentally left the disposable camera several times, and even sometimes leave purchases, still have not had anything touched.

I think your personal stroller is actually a little safer than a rental - a lot of people feel that if it is a rental, they are not really stealing (though they are taking the contents!).

yes please, anyone know what happens if your rental from ABBF or Children's Rentals Orlando gets stolen? Do you have to buy a new one for them?

This worries me......

We have traveled to WDW 12 times with our DS5 - we have brought our own stroller every time. Early on, it was a fairly expensive large stroller with the carry-seat attached, then it was a sort of mid-size regular stroller, then it was a "travel stroller" which is about the size of an umbrella stroller but has a basket underneath and folds up really small. None of these have ever been bothered - EXCEPT the very first trip my MIL's disposable camera was taken from the stroller while we were on a ride. (Particularly stupid since at least half the roll of film had been used and whoever stole it would have to develope the whole role and pay for pictures of people they don't know!) We still leave stuff like water bottles, jackets, etc. in our stroller - but we NEVER leave anything valuable like a camera or anything too tempting like an obvious purchase from a store.

It is very rare that we see a stroller exactly like ours - maybe they vary slightly in different regions of the country? It seems that people who fly to WDW seem less likely to bring their own stroller, so there might not be as many midwestern stollers there? :confused3 (I'm not sure why this is - we find it easier to have the stroller. DS can use it at the airport and we can even pile stuff in/on it until we get to the gate. Then we gate-check it and see it again at our destination.) I suspect most stoller "thefts" are actually mistakes - but I don't know why they don't just take it into lost & found and report what happened once they realize it isn't theirs ....

We were at EPCOT last week and caught someone right about to steal our rental stroller. There was nothing in it except a park map. We had parked it outside the spaceship earth ride and as we were returning to it after the ride, they were in the process of removing our name tag from it's holder! We just said Hey that's ours and they were so embarassed they slinked away.

We had someone else take our stroller at Legoland in California once - but luckily they left theirs (or someone else did!). They were happy at the end of the day, as we had their disposable camera!

If you are using it in lines, most of the time you will be leaving it someplace where it is more visible to the CMs at the boarding point.
It probably already is covered under your homeowners insurance. I know when I checked about our DD's wheelchairs, I did not need a separate rider for them. Now, her talking computer was a totally different matter, It has it's own insurance policy.

We've had that happen to us too! :sad2:

We've been to WDW three times with our expensive (IMO) Pliko P3 stroller and have not had it taken yet (knocking on wood!). We usually leave just the diaper bag on it - nothing very valuable. It's also very easy to find since it's red!

Once our stroller was stolen while everyone was inside The Timekeeper...It looked almost EXACTLY like another family's. We didn't even realize it wasn't ours until someone needed a diaper changed. We got it back eventually, but make SURE to have something that clearly indentifies which stroller is yours.
