I've been trying to find a last minute getaway and they have some VERY cheap vegas packages from a nearby airport. I was just wondering if they're a reliable and legitimate company. The travel would be for this coming sat. so i wouldn't be worried too much about the going out of business aspect... if anyone could share experiences I'd appreciate it!

My parents fly from Illinois to Vegas on Allegiant. They LOVE it. It's out of a very small regional airport with free parking here. They've never had any issue with Allegiant's flights or staff.

Good luck!

I fly Allegiant from Tennessee to Orlando multiple times a year. I love it! Big, comfy planes, direct flights and cheap fares. I'm a fan!

Thanks! Mom2Mikel that's what we'd be doing, from peoria, they fly direct which seems great! (we live in champaign which is about 1.5 hour drive), do your parents book the hotel through them as well? They seem to have a really great package deal. I just don't want any surprises :)

We did Allegiant for the first time in October. It was great!! Traveling with kids, the smaller airport in Orlando was great. We only had carry-on, so it would have been hard to balance luggage, kids, with a large crowd and lots of walking.

Just watch the hidden fees (luggage, getting select seats, booking online). There are ways to avoid all of those fees.

Please share? I am searching for a friend and they have 8 people to get to a dance competition in Disney this July. Allegiant might be a good option for them, but there seem to be so many fees to tack on.

puffkin, i think those are 'hidden fees' associated w/ most airlines.. most airlines (the ones i know that don't are jet blue and southwest) charge a checked bag fee, and many will charge a fee if you are selecting a more 'desired' seat.. if you just book whatever seats they offer you should not be charged extra. I've never heard of a booking online fee, and we travel quite a bit! HTH.

We love Allegiant. We never pay to pick our seats. With 4 of us we pay for 2 checkin bags & we ask them to gate check the 4 carry-ons. One of the guys I work got an Christmas day only eamil & book his flight to Sanford for 4 with a week mid size car for 579. Yes you have to pay for everything once on the plane including water but at our airport it is cheaper on the plane then out of the vending machine.

We've done a couple of Las Vegas flights with them and it's been fine. My only issue is that the dates are restrictive (they don't fly every day to our airport). Other than that, their service was as good as any of the other domestic airlines I've flown.

Allegiant refers to their online booking fee as a "convenience charge", I believe. It is $16 per ticket. If you go to the airport and purchase, you can waive that fee, but they are only open at limited times...:sad2:

We did carry-on bags to avoid THAT fee. And we let them pick our seats. They promised us that they would not split the kids from the adults. It worked out great. We sat 2 in one row, and 2 directly behind.

Yep, out of Allentown. No issues and 10 minutes from home.

Just be careful when booking, you need to uncheck alot of boxes that add on extra's (seats/priority boarding etc).

My brother has flown with them many times. Probably 6 or 7 times from Springfield MO to Vegas, and once from Springfield to Orlando. I don't have any details about any of it but he keeps using them and I've never heard any complaints!

When they used to fly out of NY we flew on Allegiant and it was a disaster for us. They canceled our flights, made us wait months to rebook and switched us from direct to stop over flights. That was the last time we ever flew on Allegiant. My friends had an even worse situation since they couldn't even fly them in and out on the original dates they booked. No ability to refund or rebook at our convenience and no compensation for unreasonable changes were ever offered or given. I would not recommend them. Buyer beware!!!!

We've flown them before with no issues. When you are booking the flights on the website you have to uncheck the pre booked seats and luggage or it will add it in. It is a little tricky. I caught a $29 ea way to Vegas last year. Hubby and I flew for $212 total with all the fees and I think we did 2 pieces of luggage. I'd check out hotel rates that you can find on Fatwallet or Smarter Vegas and compare them against the air/hotel from Allegiant. You may be cheaper to get the good air only rate and book your own hotel. Good luck booking your trip!!!

We have flow Allegiant from Monterey CA to LAs Vegas. The trick to keeping it cheap is taking only 1 carry on luggage and not choosing your seat. DH and I still sat together. The only problem we had, was that our flight out was delayed. My friend that has traveled w/ them more says that is typical.
