I just took out a 2007 disney touring book from the library and in it made a commment that the COP may be removed to allow a new ride-Incredibles roller coaster. That is the 1st I have heard of any such thing. Anyone else read or hear that rumor?

1st I have ever heard of it. Why would they put a coster so close to a coaster?

Which touring book was this in? I have the Passporter, UG, and Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for 2007 and I haven't seen it in any of these.:confused3

I read that in the UG as well. It has tons of rumors in it. I don't think they will do that. What we really need is a 12th country in Epcot! I'm hoping for Greece.

I know the demise of COP has been rumored for the entire time I have been 'doing Disney', '98, and from what I hear, long before then also.

That would be cool!:thumbsup2 So many new stuff coming, we need something new in the World Showcase. Besides the good food, maybe they can think of a fun ride to go with it!;)

My DH would be devastated, he loves it! He always gets on it with the DS(5) while the rest of us go on Space Mountain.
I can't see them getting rid of it, ever, cause Walt is in it. It's one of the first things with a touch of ole Disney himself, you can't take that away!;)

::yes:: Ditto.... I've been doing WDW since 2000 and have heard rumors (including this one, albeit I heard it was to be an Incredibles dark ride) about the demise of CoP. I'll believe it when I see it.

I would prefer a modification to the United Kingdom pavilion first, a Circlevision 360 film would be great, touring Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England would be awesome.

Back on topic, I have not heard this rumor, but the Carousel of Progress ride is looking a little tired, it should be refurbished, I would be highly disappointed if it was removed altogether.

Excuse me for feeling incredibly stupid, but what is COP? Which park? I am confused!

---Never mind, just got my answer, Thanks! :thumbsup2:

COP certainly has sentimental value, as I even saw it at the World Fair in the 60's...........but..............the last few times we rode it there couldn't have been more than a dozen people in our audience. Between that and the theater next door that I haven't seen used in my last 10 years of visits, that is valuable space that could really have something cool. Timekeeper has been closed forever, Stitch stinks in more ways than one, many kids who love Buzz can't handle SM, so maybe a kid oriented coaster would be a great addition to that land. Tomorrowland has not felt cohesive in years.

there needs to be something to tie tomorrowland together, but its turning into Pixar-land!!!!!!!!!!!!! the incredibles are not futuristic, they are even set in the past (watch the movie and look at the clothes and cars, its set in the 50s)

monsters inc is also not futuristic, and stitch does stink...

they need to keep COP, but fix it up. i wanna see the original and see what walk thought the "future" would be like in 1964. that is one of the few walt originals (it was at the 64 worlds fair) and it would be terrible to see it go!

Yeah, but it's a classic....the need to keep some of the original stuff from the beginning. I know life is about changes and memories, I guess though I like new stuff..I'm not much on change either..make sense? It's just one of those things in life that just wouldn't feel right if they took it away. A new coaster for the kids sounds great, but surely they kind find room somewhere else, they have a lot of land???:confused3

I understand the sentiment totally (I saw it before Disney and have been going to Disney since 1971) but when you look at the econmics and the value of space there, it isn't pulling it's weight. May sound strange, but if it's not even helping with crowd control (pulling so many people from other lines to help with flow) then it's value to the park is dimished. I loved Mr. Toad and hated to see it go, but I appreciate the addition that the Pooh ride has been to Fantasyland.

I have to look it up again, but the rumor in the 07 unofficial guide said that the COP would be taken apart and parts used as an exhibit somewhere in Future World.

Not to worry, there's a great big beautiful tomorrow shining at the end of every day.
