I have only been on the boards for a few months, but for a while I was trying to line up points for my Sept. vacation. I have noticed after watching the RENT/TRADE board that there are a few people who buy points and then turn around and rent them...anyone else notice this?

I can't imagine this is a huge $$$ maker and the hassle wouldn't be worth it to me (it was hard enough just getting the 50 points I needed transferred into my account), although I supposed if you bought some at $9 and sold at $11 or $12 you could make a good profit on a substantial number of points...interesting to me.

I thought the only person who was able to make reservations was the person who owns the points.

How can a buyer turn around and touch the reservation if it is not theirs?

I didn't think this was possible.

Yes, this practice has been noticed by many of us, and it is frowned upon. It is just considered to be in bad taste to advertise to buy points low "because we can't afford to pay more for our vacation", and then turn around and sell those points. It's just a few dollars, but it is a horribly tacky thing to do, when members were trying to help this person. :confused3

I think what happens is that they buy the points to be transferred into their account, then sell them by making reservations for others. I guess I don't really like it either just in principle, since I like the "community" feel of the boards and feel like that doesn't contribute to it...but to each his own I guess.
