I saw the menu for Catal in Downtown Disney. I thought the food sounded delicious but have not seen much about it in the threads. Does anybody have an opinion on this restaurant? :drinking1

DH hosted a dinner at Catal for his last conference and I got to go. Everything was delicious! I had soup, a wonderful chicken dish and a spetaular dessert. I can't remember exactly what I had but Iremember everything was fresh and very tasty.

I have eaten there twice now, and the food was very good both times. Our most recent visit was really wonderful. We had a great table and wonderful service. It was also my dad's birthday, and he had a wonderful evening. Try the paella if you like seafood, it was fantastic!

I've been there a number of times. While the service has always been fantastic, and the food has generally been of high quality, I would much prefer Napa Rose over Catal.

With that said, it's easier to get reservations at Catal.

From a foodie perspective, I find it very tasty, interesting menu, and always go with the specialties. It's owned and operated by the Patina Group (as are other DTD spots Naples and Tortilla Jo's). Joachim Spichal is the celebrity/chef owner with many cookbooks out, if you want to look them up. I think Catal ranks up there with his Patina restaurant downtown.

That being said, we frequent the Napa a bit more, as the service is more personalized and therefore, we know and have loyalty to more people who work there....

We wanted to try Catal after eating at Patina at the Disney Music Hall. It did not disappoint. I love a lot of the places in DTD, what a huge variety of choices. Napa Rose has a different vibe, but is really good as well. I like that you can take kids in either restaurant and they won't bat an eyelash, but try to accommodate you the best they can.

I ate at Catal for lunch with my fiancee and my parents. We did not have a
wait at all and had a great time. My meal came with french fries and I have
to say that they were the best I've ever had. It was a little bit pricey, but
definitely delicious.

Good info, thanks all!
I will have to at least try it becuase my curiosity will get the best of me. I am in fact a big fan of paella if it is high quality. I an jonesing for some fresh seafood when I go to Cali. I live in Arizona, a land-locked state. There is no such thing as fresh catch here. I will be going to San Diego after Anaheim and will be in search of my all time fave seafood- crab cakes! Yummmmmmy!
