Has anyone driven south on I-5 to DLR and had lane closures lately?

I was reading our local paper and noticed that folks are saying that they have been delayed on I-5 due to lane closures. The CA department of transportation website says:

SOUTHBOUND TRAFFIC IS REDUCED TO 1 LANE 2 MI NORTH OF THE JCT OF SR 58
(KERN CO) 24 HRS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK THRU 10/20/11 - DUE TO CONSTRUCTION

Curious if anyone has driven this route lately and experienced severe or just minor delays?

I drive I-5 all the time and they have been doing road work for quite a while patching the crumbling road. Impact on traffic has been minimal if at all every time I have been through. I wouldn't worry about it. If it was on the other side of the Grapevine, I would worry!

Thanks for your help! How many miles is there just one lane? Obviously we are driving south and then the next week, driving north back home.

Hmm...I just drove to DLR this past weekend. I am coming from 99 until it turns in to I-5, and I think Kern Co is before 99 turns into I-5. If it's possible, maybe switching over to 99 to avoid the lane closures? I am sorry if this sounds ridiculous, I don't know my roads too well. :rotfl:
