Has anyone done this before?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
I'm planning an 8 day trip to WDW in Oct 2012. I will stay on property and have hopper pass for all 8 days. The friend I am going with can't stay the whole time so my mom was going to come down to meet me once my friend leaves. Does anyone know if this will effect my "package"? I've read that all parties must have the same package which wouldn't be possible in my case since my friend and mom will be splitting the trip.

You didn't say what your Plan is. Is it free dining, or are you buying dining, or is it something else? I would keep the reservation for you and your friend, for the entire length of stay, but change the plan details to change tickets to only the length of your friend's visit. Your mom can't use your friend's tickets. There is a fingerprint scan at the park gates, and your mom wouldn't get past that using your friend's ticket. Once you receive your ticket, you are allowed to upgrade yours to 8 day tickets. Your mom would have to get new, separate tickets.

As far as dining credits, I am not sure what to say, because of my incomplete understanding of Disney procedures.

Sorry to be so vague. I haven't booked yet and was hoping to book myself for the entire trip but didn't know how it would work with my friend and mom splitting the trip. They usually don't offer free dining when I'm there so I wouldn't be doing the dining plan. It would just be the resort and park hoppers passes with the magical express for transportation.

As long as you avoid adding the dining plan, what you can do is this:

Make the reservation for you and your friend for the 7 nights you plan to be there, but only add three day tickets (or however long your friend is planning to stay). When you get there you can add days to your ticket to fill out the rest of your trip. When your friend is leaving, you take her off the reservation and add your mom.

Happy planning! We'll be there next October too! Great time of year to go. :goodvibes

You can do this or just book room-only and buy your tickets when you get down there. That way you avoid having a package altogether and everyone can just buy the tickets they need. Put your friend on the reservation for the days she is going to be there and your mom for the days she is going to be there. If CRO won't do this for you, just put your friend on the room, then have your friend "check-out" and put your mom on the reservation when she gets there. What you really want to avoid is having to pay that extra adult charge.
