WE got our Sea World tickets today, and we saw this advertised on the back of the brochure. It says you can pet a live shark and learn all about the creatures on a behind the scenes tour. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

I have yet to do this one, but I've done the other two -- Rescue and Polar Expedition. They are really informative and give you a behind the scenes look at Sea World. The price is reasonable too -- $7.95 per person. If you have time, do one of the tours.

About how long do these tours take? We only have a limited time at SeaWorld and I don't want to have most of the day taken up by the tour.

Also, how do you go about signing up for one of these? Thanks!

The tours take about an hour. If you want to sign up for one, enter Sea World at around 8:30 am and head straight for the behind the scenes tour booth at the information desk. The information desk is easy to find -- look to your left until you see a big sign saying "Information." That's where you can pick up park maps too.

we did the behind the scenes(predators) w/the sharks and whales... it was about an hour long, very informative, and well done so that there was something for both adults and kids at every level. Our 'guide' was new, he told us at the end that it had been his first tour, but he obviously loved what he was doing and it showed~! We got to see the whales up really close, but the shark you get to pet is a baby, probably similar to what you'd find at your local aquarium if u have one. All in all, well worth the $ and time. We'll go again(tho do a different tour) next time we are down. I don't want to give the whole tour away, or you won't be surprised! But take your camera, you will have an opp for some great whale pics if the tour is the same for everyone!

nancycels hit the nail on the head with her description.

For my money the tour that goes back stage at Wild Arctic and the penguins is a better choice.
