Has Anyone Done the North Shore Experience Through Aulani?

My entire family is visiting Aulani for a week in August. It is our first time in Hawaii. My youngest son is our only surfer but wants to surf in Hawaii. I was looking into doing the North Shore experience through Aulani because it seems like it gives us all the option to do what we want. My thought youngest can surf while we can snorkel. But, is this possible? Just trying to figure out how the experience runs. Any thoughts?
I'd appreciate any other suggestions if anyone has them!!!

if he/she already surfs (i.e. doesn’t need an instructor), you could just go to Waimea Bay or Sharks Cove and snorkel while he/she surfs. I wouldn’t pay someone to take me there. I can’t imagine what they would cost for several hours. Unless of course none of you guys can/want to drive in the US for whatever reason.
