Has anyone done the Little Ones Magic Hour at MK yet?

We didn't go to it, but I did see it listed on the resort TV channel one day last week. It was the first I'd ever heard of it, acutally. I thought it was interesting that they did it on the same day as the evening EMH. That meant Magic Kingdom was open from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM that day.

Just curious ... are you expected to have a little one in tow to attend this or is it just another way of saying it's *Fantasyland* Magic Hour?

I am guessing the latter.

There's been much debate on other threads about whether or not you "should" go without preschoolers, regardless of what the rule may be. However, there appears to be no restrictions except that you must be a WDW resort guest. The Extra Magic Hour is a marketing ploy aimed at families with young children - tied in with the special concerts at MGM- but it's not exclusive to others (at least from what I understand). I say, if you want to take advantage of the extra hour go ahead.

LOL, I have an abundance of little ones and we'll be happily taking advantage of the marketing ploys! I didn't know there had been lots of discussion about the "shoulds" of it (in hindsight, I should have known better ;) ) ... I was just curious how it worked. Thanks!

Oh, we plan on going with our little ones, too. I'm just wondering how crowded it was. If it's a total madhouse, we'll just readjust our plans. At first I was thinking everyone would go there and it would be just crazy (lol...yes I did think this). But now, I'm thinking that most people would stay away. That is, people without little children.

So, has anyone gone yet???

Mary

Is this EMH separate from the regular EMH on Thursday mornings?

If so, When is the little ones EMH?

Yes, it is separate from the regular morning EMH. Only the rides in Fantasyland are open.

I remember it was on the same day as an evening EMH at MK, but sorry, I can't remember if it was Friday or Sunday.

I already posted this on the "Magical Beginnings" Thread but since it is getting nasty I will copy it to here:

The All Ears Newsletter just arrived and has a first hand account of MB!

Said the crowds were low and lots of characters were available and "playing" with the kids. I specifically mentioned playing Ring around the Rosie with Snow White, Follow the Leader with Peter Pan ,Wendy, May I? with Wendy, and the rest of the PP gang, and hide and seek with Tigger and Piglet. The person reporting also said that they got to ride Peter Pan WITH Wendy. They highly recommend it.

(I am not cutting an pasting the entire report since I am not sure that is okay with All Ears or DIS rules--but I have paraphrased most of it here)

This sounds like a great time and totally worth it! Can't wait!

HTH--and let's play nice!

Sounds terrific! My 4 yo will love it my 8 yo will be rolling her eyes the whole time!!!! Are people seriously getting upset on another thread about this? How funny!

People are getting their panties twisted on other threads because:

1. some want it to be an exclusive, toddler/preschool age cut-off thing, and insist it is and you're evil if you don't have a toddler and plan to go anyways.

2. others are insisting it's for everyone, that WDW has not published an age limit for it, and everyone has the right to go.

I've been asking if there was an age limit on anything given at the resort, etc, what about older siblings, what about developmentally delayed children, and people have been so outraged it's been funny :rotfl:

While I agree that it's #2 from above post, we will avoid it like the plague. Love kids, but traveling without mine (who is 17 anyway!) and run a preschool. It does sound like something my DS would have loved when he was younger. I would love to ride PP with Wendy!!

On the other "Magical Beginnings" thread (the one that has gotten a bit nasty as stated above) there was a new post today from a Diser who was actually at the MB EMH. She posted that there were no lines for any of the rides and there were many characters there playing games with the little ones (NO AUTOGRAPHS) It actually sounded like it was a cute event for pre-schoolers. I hope future posts about this EMH are as favorable. I had been planning to avoid it but now I am getting excited about it and think it may be alot fun for my 2yr old DD.

The "magical beginnings EMH" is every Sun, Wed, & Fri morning from Aug 13 - Sept 30. Only fantasyland is open during this hour for resort guests.

***BUMP****

I would love some reports form Disers who may have done this MB EMH. How were the crowds? Character interaction? ect??? I am still trying to decided if I want to work it into my schedule for our upcomming trip next month and would really like some more feedback.

Hi guys-here is my firsthand info as we just returned today and did participate in MB on Wed the 16th and Fri the 18th. I had asked on these boards before we left about MB and the childrens ages as we had planned to go to MK before MB was ever announced and I had ressies that really could not be switched around. My youngest child is 7 so I had called Disney prior to leaving and was told you have to have a child in your party 5 and under and then told it doesnt matter.

Upon arrival at POR I asked a CM about it and he checked with his manager and stated that it was for children 5 and under but they could not imagine that MK would enforce this and actually turn people away. So, we went ahead and arrived for MB, we entered the parks w/o any problems (and I did notice alot of other people with much older children and some without children at all). The brochure that they hand you when entering does say at the top "MB for children 5 and under". But, I don't really think they have any way of enforcing this. My 7 year old loves Fantasyland (as do I) but I don't want to be a rule breaker!! The crowds were ok during this first hour and we were able to get most things done. There were alot of characters out, Stitch was riding Dumbo, Chip,Dale were riding rides, Peter, Wendy playing with children.

I hope this helps.... I really was concerned before we left as I did not want my kids turned away at the gate!!

How fun! :goodvibes I can't imagine riding stuff with the characters! My DD2 is going to love it! I'm thinking that even if the rest of our group doesn't want to get up early, the two of us will do this every day while we are there. :cloud9:

We will only be there for the very last one on Friday....we are supposed to be at MGM that day....this sounds so cute. I think my husband would .... if I changed our plans and ADR's again. Oh well, maybe they do it again next year.
