Looking to sign the kids up for a YES class and am leaning towards this one, and hoping someone who has been to at can give their opinion :):)

The other choices are Synergy in Science and the Animation class

Thanks!

My two boys (ages 12 & 9 at the time) did the class (and DH & I went too) in July 2011. They thought it was ok, but it wouldn't have been their first choice (it was the only class we could take within our time period). The older one, esp. was a little bored with it. This past June, the old DS took the animation class at Disneyland and really enjoyed it, but he really likes to draw, so that helped! I went to that one as well and I did like it better than the Ocean class. We all learned how to draw Winnie the Pooh and learned all about the animation process which was pretty cool. Because it was at Disneyland, it may be a little different, so I can't comment on the class at WDW, but I would think they would be pretty similar. They also took us on Tower of Terror at the end of class (which we love as well!) HTH.:thumbsup2

My daughter did this class and like the other poster, it was okay. She does enjoy marine life so it wasn't really the content but I think the program would be better if it was an hour shorter. The first two hours went fine but I could see her fading the last hour and she just wasn't into it. They did various activities and rode the ride there. It's been a while so I can't remember everything they did. I think next time she would prefer either one on animation or the one at AK. So bottom line, although it wasn't 'excellent' it was okay and my daughter was still happy she did it.

My boys (11 and 9) just did this program yesterday and neither of them enjoyed it. They both thought it was boring. DH said it was informative but he was bored as well. I didn't have high hopes going in, but it was the only class they could both do together. I would definitely try to find something else next time. However, the ticket savings are worth a few hours of boredom ;)

My kids (boys 12 and 14), step-daughter (13), and niece (13) just did the animation class last month. They all enjoyed it.

Honestly, it wasn't very good.
We did it last summer. My 3 girls were 7,10,13. At the time the class was listed as ages 8-15. I see now that it's listed as ages 8-11, but really, it seemed more geared towards 5-8 year olds.

They all thought it was boring.

DD13 and DS16 also did the Production Arts and Sciences class at DHS and they both really enjoyed it. So I do know, at least, that some of the YES classes are good. But I wouldn't recommend the Ocean Discoveries.

10 year old girl thought it was only 'ok'. My wife was bored as the chaperone. I got to sit in Sunshine Seasons and relax with a cup of coffee for three hours.

Grades:

Kid: B-
Adult Chaperone: C-
Adult Non-Chaperone: A++
