Has anyone done party for the senses? Was it worth $100?
any info please
First, this thread will probably we moved from the DVC forum to a more appropriate forum.
The Party for the Senses is a lot of fun, and you get to try a lot of different foods and wines (and sometimes beer and liquor). As far as whether it's worth it, or if there are better ways to spend $100 per person, that's a matter of individual opinion.
Rather than describing the Party for the Senses, allow me to paste the official description from the official WDW website:
A Party for the Senses
Eat, drink and celebrate at this truly magical evening of culinary excellence. Sample signature dishes and exceptional wines at this grand event featuring more than 25 eminent chefs and 70 wines and beers, encircled by aweinspiring entertainment from Cirque du Soleil® La Nouba. Begin your evening with reserved seats at an "Eat to the Beat" Concert.
When: Saturdays, 6:30 p.m. 9:00 p.m.
Cost: $95 per person* (plus tax, gratuity included)
Now, allow me to offer some thoughts about whether it's worth it.
The Party starts with preferred seating (close to the stage) for an "Eat to the Beat" concert by a has-been act at the Americas Gardens stage. Any Epcot guest can go to the concert, so I wouldn't attach any financial vlaue to this component of the Party.
The real event gets underway in the World Showplace (the old Millennium Village) when the concert ends. If you compare what you're getting to many $10 appetizers and glasses or tastes of wine at better restaurants, you can certainly make a case that the $100 tab per person is justified. Also, you get to keep a nice souvenir glass.
The biggest justification for going to a Party for the Senses is that it's a memorable event, not just a meal.
However, you could also compare the $100 per person that you would spend for the Party for the Senses to other meals that you could get for roughly the same amount of money -- either F&W Festival events such as three Food & Wine Pairings at $35 each, or a very nice 3-course dinner at Citricos with a perfectly paired wine at each course and great service.
My wife and I went to a Party for the Senses in 2003 and again in 2004, but we didn't reserve the Party for the Senses for 2005.
I don't regret going. But this year, we're spending our money differently.
If you've never been to a Party for the Senses, and you enjoy trying new things, and the price doesn't scare you too much, I would recommend it.
One last thing... I would recommend using WDW transportation, not your own car, to get back to your resort after the Party for the Senses. If staying off-site, I would recommend arranging a towncar or taking a taxi.
The ideal place for DVC members is BCV or BWV. Then it's just a matter of walking back.
