Has anyone deleted a comment you made on Facebook?

Sometimes it can happen by accident...and the times it is done on purpose--the person may think you have said something inappropriate.

I actually deleted a comment someone made on a posting once. It was just plain--inappropriate. But I also let them know (eventually).

If you just "hover" over the person's Wall post, you'll see "Remove" pop up. Click that!

Your friend needs to make his page more private. No one can see info on my page or post on my Wall unless they are already a friend, and I have "lists" so sometimes I post only "to" certain people, or exclude certain people.

I went and looked again, and his dad wrote it in the comment part to his son's status update. Can he still delete it? I don't think his dad knew it could be seen by everyone, it's a letter to his son kinda thing and he says he's new to FB in it. It really should have been a private message, if you know what I mean.

If someone posts to your wall or onto your comments, you can delete it.

You can also delete posts you make on your wall, on other people's walls directly and their comments.

I kind of think it's funny the silly assumptions people make on facebook. My mother will have random posts on her wall that make no sense. I finally realized, she is responding to other people. But instead of commenting on their post or wall, she does it as a status update.:confused3

So something like....
"miss you too"

And there is one other--where she's having a conversation with other people--but her responses are on her wall. The complete conversation is on someone else's wall.

I'ts like--ummm....post on their wall so they can see what you say. It's bizarre.

I haven't noticed my posts being deleted. But I have had a few family members and friends delete their name "tag" on photos of them that I've posted. The odd thing is that they are always just regular pictures in which they look great, or pictures of when they were kids :confused3. (I try very hard not to post any pictures that people look goofy in or might be embarrassed by.) And I know they don't have anything specifically against tagging because there are tons of other tagged pictures of them on FB, including a lot by me .

I know they've deleted them because if I try to tag the photo because I think I just forgot to ever tag it, FB won't let me and says it's because the person deleted the tag.

Oh definitely. I just looked at some replies to my status updates, and you don't even have to hover to see "delete". Delete is *right there* under the reply.

FB is odd and has a definite period of time where you get used to what is where, what can be seen by others, what is private, etc. And then just when you get used to it all, they change it up!

I've deleted tags in pics of myself before, mainly because what the original poster thought was a good pic of me was HIDEOUS, IMO. I'll follow it up with a message about why I deleted it, though.

To my knowledge, nobody's ever deleted anything I've posted, but I could be wrong. I normally don't follow up unless it's a topic that a ton of people reply to or something like that. I have deleted one comment from my wall from somebody; it was from a guy I went to HS with and his response to one of those "Post your first memory of me..." status update thingies was, "I'm sorry, but I have no memory whatsoever of you." OK, fool, then why send me the friend request in the first place? Sheesh. Lol.

If you've deleted someone else's comments, did you have the nerve to actually message the person and tell them why you did it? It's quite annoying to have to wonder why someone would delete a harmless comment such as congratulations, or soem sort of condolence or prayer for something in your life, and really makes the person who deleted the comment look like a jerk.

Perhaps that should be added as a Facebook feature. "Why did you delete this comment?" accompanied by a text box or a checklist to choose why you've deleted the comment.

And if you post something controversial, you can't expect every single person on your friends list to agree with you, and if they have their differing opinion to share, then so what? Otherwise you may as well delete them as a friend (on FB) as well, then ta da! No more issues.

I have done this. It's nothing personal or offensive about the pics. I just had a ton of pics on my photo page so I cleaned it up some in an attempt to not have so many pages of pictures.

My MIL and aunt-in-law (her sister) aren't speaking, so when my cousin-in-law posted something, her mother posted a comment, followed by my MIL posting a comment. My aunt-in-law then deleted her own comment, which then prompted my MIL to delete her comment.

Very mature. :thumbsup2

My DD deletes my comments ALL the time, and I say nothing that is harmless...I just ignore her now...she can be "touchy" about some things, so I just skip over her messages...:rolleyes1

I use to delete my BIL comments ALL the time. He just was soooo inappropriate in every way. His humor is truly is own. We are no longer ‘friends’ on FB
