Has anyone bought the Step 2 Extreme Coaster?

I'm thinking about buying this for my two boys for Christmas but I'd really like to hear some input on it before doing so since it's $260.

I have experience w/ Step 2's normal coaster and the kiddos love it but I dont know about this one! Looks like something my 3 year old would LOVE! Let me know what you decided!

That coaster must have replaced the ones I bought for my girls when they were younger. It was round and green. It had a little yellow motorized coaster that went around and over the little hills. They absolutely *loved* and it got lots of use out of it even though I hated it because it was so noisy. If it is a step 2 product I don't think you can go wrong with it. I have never had any problems with any of the step 2 products I've purchased for my girls or my yard.

They still have both the coasters that you guys are talking about. One is called the Up & Down roller coaster and the other is the Music & Motion "train-type" coaster. I've wanted this new Extreme one since it first came out. I've read a few reviews on it of people saying that it's wonderful and that they've put their 1.5-12 year olds on it. I think the adults have even rode it a few times. Looks super fun! I was wondering how hard it was to disassemble to move to a different location and looking for some Dis member reviews.

That looks COOL!! I may have to look for one of those for my 3.5 year old. I think they had something like that at Sam's or BJ's last year. I'll have to check out the prices. That might be an excellent Santa gift...

Santa gift is exactly what I was thinking!!! Some of the reviews said that they couldn't even get their children to get off of it and that they wore themselves out every day with it.

The Sam's in my town only has the Up & Down Coaster. Let me know if you find it for cheaper than $260.

I actually got the cheaper version roller coaster for my DS quite a few years ago at a garage sale. DS is now 9, so about 8 years ago. The lady sold it to me for $20.00.

My DS used it, DD and now my 2 1/2 yo niece and nephew are using it.

The extreme one looks really cute, but I myself wouldn't spend $260.00 on a plastic toddler toy, but thats just me. It looks like fun though.

Ok...I've been lurking on these boards for some time now and have now decided that I have to post to this one.
Santa brought my 2 boys the Extreme Coaster for Christmas last year. At the time they were 15 months and 4. They both LOVE it! And so do all of the neighborhood kids. We still ride it at least once a week.
It is rather large and bulky although one person can easily move it around alone. I have never tried to take it apart to move it around. That would probably be too much trouble since there are several screws holding the plastic parts together. Be aware that it comes in 2 large and 1 smaller box - make sure that you have enough room for Santa to hide them properly!
Assembly is really easy. Only takes about 30 minutes to put together and attach stickers.
I ended up purchasing from Target last year when they ran a free shipping special. Can't remember exactly how much I paid but it seems like it was more than $260.00.

We have the Extreme Coaster. WE LOVE IT!!!! We've had it for a year now. The kids have a ball with it. Kids who visit love it as well. I think it is totally worth the money.

True, $260 is a lot, but knowing Step 2 products, I know that I'd be able to sell it for a decent amount of $$ down the line. You got a STEAL grabbing one of these for $20! I have gotten most of my Little Tikes and Step 2 items used and some I got hot deals on (like the workbench I paid $5 for) and some I paid higher prices (the playhouse I spent $75 on, but it would have been over $200 new, so we were both happy with that deal). I bet this thing would have good resale value!

IMO/experience, there are very few Step 2/Little Tykes climbing/play toys that
#1 aren't worth the money
#2 don't get the play
#3 don't retain decent resale value

We purchased the Up & Down Roller Coaster for our 2 that are 12 months apart when they turned 2 & 3 and they are now 6 & 7 and STILL use it...granted they have moved it to the driveway which has a little slope so that they can gain more momentum but they would KILL me if I even thought of getting rid of it yet. My concern would be having the room for it year round. I didn't see where you lived but we put ours under a tarp during winter months so make sure you have a place to store it if you can't leave it out year round. But other than that I'm sure they will LOVE it! How come kids today have such neat toys when all we had was a shoddy stack of bricks, 2x4's, and some cruddy piece of particle board to make a ramp out of
