We are planing a trip and would like to try the dining plan for part of it. I was thinking I could book the first few days as a package and then book the site only for the remainder.

Dose anyone have any experience with this? Can you request to keep the same site for the whole time?

Regards,
Marcy

Sure, Marcy, it's done sometimes for the very same reason you gave.

As long as you reserve the same type of site both times (Premium/Premium, Full/Full, etc) you can keep it and not have to move. But you will have to check out and in that second time to close the first folio and open the second. If you tell them it's the same type of site they won't make you move. They may preassign you a different site number the second time (just as if you were showing up for the first time) but I have never heard of them making anyone move as long as the site types are the same.

If someone was preassigned to your site they'll be reassigned before they check in (and not even know it).

We actually had 3 reservations for 1 trip. Site only, package, site only. We never had to move. We did remind them at check-in also.

We have had two consecutive reservations several times and have never had to move. When you check in for the first reservation, make sure they link the two reservations together so they don't assign someone else to your site during the second reservation. You do have to go back to the Outpost and check out/check in when the second reservation starts.

I have really enjoyed doing this because it means we are staying more than 15 days!

The dining plan has always been available with the camp sites.

The free dining plan has not and is still not.

. . . Dose anyone have any experience with this? Can you request to keep the same site for the whole time? . . .

1) Almost always.
2) As stated by Boma Ed, it is done all the time.
3) BUT, there are times times when you must move.
4) Doesn't happen often, thankfully - in fact , it is seldom.
5) Usually happens when
. . . two or more sites are requested together ("linked")
. . . a big group reserves a whole loop *
. . . and, these can't be accommodated elsewhere
6) So, for the main part, I would say you have no problem.

* Every year, the Provost MH group reserves a whole loop for
their "club". The loop is actually held for them. I must say, it
is impressive to see a whole line of major-expensive motorhomes.
