Has anyone been to The Cellar?

I was wondering if anyone had gone to The Cellar? It was designed by Gene White who was an architect of Pirates of Caribbean. It also has some pretty cool history.... Richard Burton proposed to Elizabeth Taylor there :p I am looking at some nicer restaurants to go to when we are visiting DL. I was thinking this might be a great place for me and husband to a dinner. I had planned to hit up Napa Rose & Carthay Circle but thinking maybe it would be best to possibly look also outside the 'Disney bubble'

Wow, I'd never heard of it! Just opened the link and it sounds pretty cool! Sorry I can't give you a first-hand review, but it sure seems like it would be fun.

I watched a few Youtube reviews and it seems really amazing!! I know I wanted to also check out Tam O'Shanter's in LA you can sit actually at Walt's table where him and his Imagineers would sit. The restaurant is a cottage and Snow Whites & the 7 Dwarfs cottage is similar.

EKKKKK!!! I love it 💕 Please tell me it was as good as I have heard it is! I am not a big prime rib person but my husband is & he also does scotch lol Did you have any issues getting Walt's table or did you just request it at the restaurant or reservation?

It was several years ago so I'll have to check with my friends. As I recall, we made the reservation for a table ( you can't request Walt's table on the phone) and then got there early. We waited in the bar until it was available. It was such a fun day! We combined it with a visit to Walt's grave in Forest Lawn cemetery. We did a special studio tour event as well and I got to hold one of Walt's Oscar's 😍. But to tell you the truth, I am not sure we did all 3 things on the same day 😂

Now I am really jealous LOL I was looking awhile ago at Adventures by Disney an I saw they did studio tours and thought that would be some amazing! I have thought about doing Walt's tour at DL when I was there. I am pretty sure the 5 & 15 yr old won't appreciate, and really I would be the only one really into it but DH would totally come along. Maybe I am assuming the kids wouldn't like it and they would. I probably would cry getting to go into he apartment.

It really depends on the kids! I don't think any of mine would have appreciated it when they were young (I have 5, with a big age gap between the 2 oldest and the 3 younger). The older 2 preferred to run around on their own as much as possible. The younger 3 loved all of us together most of the time and going off on their own a little bit, but weren't that big on experiences except when they included dining.

I did a tour of Walt's apartment once through a Club 33 friend. It was really cool, and we got to take our time and really look at everything. Somewhere I have a picture of me in front of the green lamp in the window (which has since been replaced with a red one). I think most kids would not value the tour as an adult would, but there are definitely exceptions. And yes, I teared up, too!! I didn't expect that!

Found the picture. That's me in black.

I love it!! Thanks so much for sharing 💕 I really need better friends... I have none that can get me into Club 33 LOL I am the oldest of 5 and there is a big gap between the oldest 2 and younger 3. We have 5 kids and there is a BIG age gap between the older ones and the youngest. Our daughter just turned 5 and her siblings are 27, 23, 22 & 14 and they are all way to protective and spoil her way too much. We are just brining the 14(he will be 15) & 5 yr old on this trip it would have just been a nightmare trying to work with everyones schedule to make it work. But today I was looking at trying to do a trip everyone this fall for 3 days or possibly a cruise which just seems so much cheaper. I've always been a DL girl and never done WDW but I swear it seems like it would be cheaper to bring them all there. The older ones have all done the DL thing but this is the younger ones 1st time.

I 100% decided I am booking this tour for me and DH to go on! I am not going to bring the kids because I am pretty sure they wouldn't appreciate it and I want to soak it all in!

Oh, we're so similar! My oldest 2 are 43 and 41(as of tomorrow). The younger ones are 23 and 20-year-old twins. You're just way behind me LOL.

I'm excited you're booking the tour! I think it's smart to do this with just you and your husband and then maybe treat yourself afterward to a cocktail or something in honor of Walt :p. I've never done a cruise but if you go, let me know what you think!

I highly recommend a tour with Bob if he's still doing them. He's hilarious!! I had a martini with him once in the 1901 Lounge and celebrated his birthday with him at the old Club 33 (when they still had the trophy room). To be clear, I'm a nobody but have a few friends who bring me along to things sometimes :D. We got to walk all over DL with Bob and he rattled off all of these cool stories about the beginnings of DLR and he still used his original ID! He was, like, 17 or something in the picture and he still used it to get into the parks, ha ha. But Disney stopped letting him do that. They may have rescinded that decision by now--I hope so. People love him! And it really upset him.

I can't wait to hear about your trip :)

I opened that link and it looks exactly like a restaurant I went to on a study abroad in England. It was underground but had the same look to it, can't remember the name.

If we're in LA (hoping to do another Santa Monica/Queen Mary adventure soon), we may just have to visit this along with the Tam O'Shanter.

Queen Mary is in Long Beach and I know a lot about it!! We might be making a trip down to it when we are there. They used to have a big holiday festival but it was down here for awhile for upkeep but they just reopened not long ago

We love the Queen Mary so much, it is so special. We stayed in one of the most haunted rooms unbeknownst to us back in like 2017 lol. Nothing happened, but it's just such an incredible experience to stay there just due to all the history. I was so sad when it shut down during COVID

How did you like staying there! I have heard mixed things about staying in the rooms and was tempted to book one at the end or beginning of or Dec DL trip

We loved it! We've only done the family suite with a harbor view category I believe, I think I would feel a little claustrophobic if we got an interior room with no window. It had a main bedroom and then a little mini room with a bed off to the side IIRC.
