Has anyone been to CBR lately?

I have stayed at CBR once and it was my least favorite moderate. The resort seemed more runned down than the other resorts we stay at and we didn't like the food court. We have family coming to visit in Nov and they want to stay there. Have there been any renovations done to the hotel during the past couple of years. Our favorites are POFQ and CSR.

We stayed in January and it was fine. Only mod we've stayed at though.

You might want to take a look at the CBR FAQ thread. Link is listed below. I don't know when you stayed at CBR but the food court now has a central check out instead of paying at every station.

We stayed one night a few months ago.
We both thought the room we were in needed a rehab. The carpet looking REALLY bad was the worse of it. But the furnture just was looking rather old and worn. However the bed and pillows were really comfy.
The room was fine. Other than the carpet looking so bad, it was a clean room. The service was great all the way around. Grounds nicely cared for.

Thanks for the pics Saftey Mom. We were there in 05' and like Love2Roam said the place looked in need of a rehab more so than other moderates we have stayed at.

Was there in December 07 lot of work being done at the pool and grounds.
Check out the rehab list for times. lots of walking and the lake was drained a bit with the new deck being added. The food court gets full early. We still enjoyed it but just fyi.

I stayed there years ago as a teen with my parents when it first opened. We didn't like it then. My DH and I stayed there with our two daughters in 2005 and we really didn't like it. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but we much prefer POR. We had a lot of trouble with busses at CBR, the main pool always seemed too crowded (although they are rehabbing it currently, so it might be much nicer in the fall). We do not like the food court, it's food or service. You'd think all foods courts are created equal, but we really like the one at POR and feel there is a noticeable difference. We usually have stayed deluxe, but would not hesitate to stay at POR if we can't afford the deluxes. However, if CBR were my only moderate choice, I think I'd just choose a value. I know there are lots of people on here who really do enjoy CBR, so you will have to make your own decision of course. I will say this however, I really thought giving CBR a try in 2005 would change my mind about the resort from my prior experience, but I didn't like it the second time any more than the first. If you have felt that way previously, I don't know what would make you like it there now.

My family really enjoyed our two stays at the CBR. We are a pretty laid back family so if there are a few stains on the carpet (not anything yucky) or a bit of dust, we just take it all in stride.

That being said, the furniture in our rooms looked fairly fresh. There was a brown stain on the carpet near the foot of the bed. It looked like somebody spilled coffee on it but it wasn't a sticky ooey gooey stain....more of the set in stain kind.

I know that the mattresses were replace in May and June, 2006 'cause they were in the process of changing them out while we were there.

We actually liked the food served at the CBR food court. The fresh tossed salads were nice. My husband fell in love with the Reuben sandwiches. Our favorite station was the grab n go with all their fresh baked items.

They are redoing the main pool at the CBR but I believe that Safetymom and others have posted that the rehab should be finished in mid-September. The drawings of the new pool looks like it will be really cool.

The last time we were there in June, 2007, the landscaping crew were out and about replacing some of the shrubbery and just general maintenance.

Like I said, we are pretty laid back and the CBR seemed just the right resort for our family.
