Has anyone been to Aquarium of the Pacific?

We are thinking of extending our next weekend trip to include the aquarium. Any information on it would be great! How far is it from DL and do they have someplace to eat lunch there? Thank you!

Hi Dana,

We took a trip down to the Aquarium last month. I would estimate it to be about 45 min. to 1 hr. drive from DL. However,
I wasn't coming from that direction so someone who lives closer might be able to give you a better answer.

The Aquarium is nice, but it certainly wouldn't take you an entire day to do. We were able to see everything in about 2 hours. There is a cafeteria in the Aquarium but I'd also suggest walking around to the other side of the harbor over by the Queen Mary. There are quite a few restaurants there.

It's a decent aquarium but not that large; honestly I would not make a special trip to see it unless you are big fish lovers.

It should only take about 30-40 minutes to get there from Disneyland. You're very close to the Shoreline Village area at the aquarium and there is a good restaurant there, Parker's Lighthouse.

IMO the Birch aquarium in SD and Seaworld are great and close to home, but if you LOVE the Birch Aquarium you would like the one in Long Beach and it would be worth a 1/2 day visit.

I would see the aquarium AND the Queen Mary. There is a water taxi that goes back and forth across the channel all the time. I think you can buy a one day pass to both.
The aquarium probably isn't worth the trip alone, but the Queen Mary AND the aquarium could make for a fun day!
