I started Ideal Protein this week and I'm really exited about it. It worked really well for both my Dad and my Aunt and she and I have very similar body types so I'm hoping it will work for me too. Has anyone been successful doing Ideal Protein while on DCL or any cruise for that matter? I'm not sure I can do it with all the yummy dessert and pina coladas floating around. More than likely we will wait until I'm off the diet to go on another cruise but there are some really tempting IGT rates out there....

What does it entail?

What you eat and drink on a cruise is entirely up to you. I'm sure you can find things to make it work. In the MDRs there's a healthier and vegetation section on the menu every night. For lunch and breakfast you'd have to just be choosy in terms of what you eat.

No carbs, sugar (including fruit), or dairy period. Lots of supplements. In a day I have to have 3 Ideal Protein foods which are their pre-packaged drinks, snacks, soups, etc. i can have 8oz of meat, and 4cups of select vegetables. Also using oil and butter in the cooking process is not allowed.

If you have great self control you can do it or eat how ever you want. When you order you just have to specify no oil/butter, etc.

On the magic all the buffet cooked veggies for breakfast and lunch were tossed with butter (and labeled as such). Kind of a pain. It's all up to your will power! Disney is great at offering options, but I wouldn't be able to do a pre packaged good program on board and go into ANY food venue!

If your prepackaged foods need to be heated you would be out of luck...there is no guest available microwave or other heating method for food. the staff will not heat up anything for you.

There is also no mixing capabilities for packaged shakes if that is part of the program
