Has anyone been rained out in October?

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out what the chances are of being rained out from SBP on October 21st?

I've never been to WDW in mid-late October before, I know in late-September to early October last time we went (2007) we had quite a few heavy showers, but when we've been previously in November, there's been very little rain.

I'm wondering if there's such a thing as a historic weather site that would tell me what the weather was like on each day in October last year.

Whilst I know Disney would still make things beautiful in an indoor location, having just see Toni's sneak peek , I can't pretend I wouldn't be disappointed to be rained out, that's the reason we chose WDW to get married, we could get married in a hotel room here, and it's the beautiful and unique locations outdoors in WDW that appealed to us.

I know what will be will be, but I'm just trying to hedge my bets!!

Oh my god that is the date i want to get married but 2011 thats the date me and DFi got engaged lol

when we went last year it only rainned once and t was about 10 at night it rainned for about 15 mins and that was it

the year before I went in october and it was the same I think it rainned twice both late at night and for only 10 mins

have you got a story of your engagement me and DFi also got engaged at CRT

Yes you have a chance of rain in October, it's still hurricane season.

I know there was someone from late Oct 07, that had a tropical storm affect some of her activities. A welcome lunch had to be moved inside and they didn't shoot off Illuminations the night of her wedding(she had the late ceremony with prereception/reception at Italy/AAR). They were able to do the prereception outside, it quit raining but it was too windy for Illuminations.

We were married Oct 25 2008 and were supposed to have our welcome party at SBP on the 24th but it was moved indoors due to rain. I was really bummed at first but they did a very nice job. Luckily on our wedding day it only poured in the morning and by 11AM the sun was out and it was sunny the whole day. But supposedly that was the only day in two weeks that it rained all day. I guess with weather you just never know.

You just never know. I actually checked the Farmer's Almanac after we picked our date (Oct. 20, 2005) just to be sure, and there was no prediction of rain. Our day was perfect, but Hurricane Wilma struck a few days later and it was very windy and wet. You can look on line at weather history for that date and it will give you an average temperature and rain fall. I believe the Farmer's Almanac is on line too and it's surprisingly accurate.

Great timing you had! We got married 10/22/05 and it rained about 5 mins before our ceremony started! It was soo humid the whole day though that it was probably better it did rain. BEing outside would have been awful!

we had rain on our day in sept, but we had the wp so it didnt matter to us and then it stopped after the ceremony so didnt really affect us much

I know what you mean though, i was worried about out dessert party leading up to our wedding as there was 2 hurricanes around and I didnt want to have it inside

When I was younger, my family always went in October. We got stuck in hurricanes twice, so I would say yes there is a possibility. But really, when isn't there a chance?

I live just south of Orlando. The worst times of year for rain is like all summer long. Starting in June, we get tropical thunderstorms literally every afternoon, and they go on until about the first part of Sept. Sept is the worst month for Hurricanes (don't book cruises this time of year!). We've been hit by 6 in the past 5 years. (I lost my house in Charlie.) By October, it rains much less, sometimes not at all. Usually if it rains, it will be in the late afternoon or at night. So if your ceremony is earlier in the day, you should be all set.

I was doing my Disney Internship during Wilma. I believe they closed the parks for most of the morning for that one. And some of them didn't reopen till the next day. And if Disney closes you know it must be serious.

We were married Oct 28, 2006 and it did not rain, however, it was very cold the day of our wedding and some of our guests left the reception early because of it. The week before it was in the 80s and humid.

Have to input my two cents in here. Weather at Disney in late October can vary from year to year. Personally, I think you should prepare for scattered afternoon thunderstorms each day with the "heat of the day", even in late October. Also, late October is still hurricane season and even Orlando can be affected by hurricanes and tropical storms....take for instance Hurricane Charley in 2004 which brought hurricane force winds to Orlando as it tracked northeast through the state.

As for historical weather sites, one good site I can suggest is Weather Underground. Go to Weather Underground, click on History. Once you're there, input Orlando, Florida and the date you want to look at and it will give you the weather conditions for that particular day, including a look at the weather hour-by-hour for that day.

One other thing I found out about the Weather Underground site. If you click History and then type in KMCO for the location (Orlando airport), you can search dates back to 1974 for a more representative feel of what the weather was like for a certain date for the last 34 years.

Hey Meryll!! I just wanted to say thank you for your kind words about my ceremony. I just wanted to let you know that while I don't know how the weather is usually in October, if it does rain, Disney will make everything beautiful.

I was so upset for 2 weeks before the wedding because I kept seeing that it was going to rain. When it started raining at the time I was supposed to leave for the wedding I was getting upset. I still went out in the rain and took pictures though. Misty was amazed that I had no problem dragging my dress through the puddles and everything..lol. (oh and amazingly my dress is still clean!). My hair and make up held up great. If you look at the sneak peek, I was outside in the pouring rain before the ceremony.

the rain did stop in time for the reception so we took even more pictures outside and it stopped completely in time for our dessert party. We didnt have the food served outside but we were all escorted to the UK lower for the fireworks. Nobody even cared and the were all amazed with the wedding. While I was dissappointed when I learned the ceremony was being moved indoors, after I think I liked the ballroom even more than SBP. Sounds crazy but I really do. They really made it beautiful. It was good timing and I'm glad it worked out because we were married at WL and if it rained they would have moved us from Sunrise Terrace to the 4th floor interior balcony where we did our cake cutting. The balcony was fine for the cake cutting but I would not have wanted to get married there.

Wilma sort of de-railed our honeymoon cruise. We were supposed to cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale to Mexico but instead our ship went to rescue Americans stuck in Mexico! Royal Caribbean was great though and got us re-booked immediately.
