I have booked a room at ASMusic for December 21 to January 2 and figure it will be very very busy, due to the time of year. I have no problem with the amount of people, but I am worried about the hassle if they did not have a room for us. Has this ever happened. Thanks

Not another hotel, but last Oct (2002) we had reserved a 2 bd. villa at the Beach Club Villas and they had oversold them so they bumped us up to the Conceirge Level in the PRESIDENTIAL SUITE! It was amazing! I'm sure that if you got bumped, you'd get something really good out of it, even if it's at a different hotel. Have a great trip!

Since micks had such great luck, I'll be the pessimist ... I'd be a bit worried if you need anything special...e.g., two doubles, adjoining rooms, etc. They may end up with absolutely no flexibility in your room assignment. If you need anything special, I'd call in your request now.

Not sure if WL was overcrowded since it was last October but we got offered a room at GF with a lagoon view WOW! I didn't pass up the offer.

I don't know for certain what happened but 2 years ago in August we went to check in at the GF and were "made an offer" of 4 complimentary Park Hopper Plus passes (there were 4 people in our party - 2 little girls and 2 adults) and one complimentary night in an AKL savannah view room because of "plumbing problems" in the bldg. we'd been assigned. I ran with it, although there was a man in front of me who refused and said he wanted his room. The CM who drove us over to AKL told me the hotel was overbooked. We checked in without incident the following morning at GF. Pretty great deal, I thought...

Makes sense. Say a hotel has 1000 rooms - 500 "standard" views and 500 where you are supposed to pay extra for the view. If the hotel is 100% booked but 700 people book "standard" views , 200 of those will be "forced" to occupy a room with an upgraded view. Of course, if you are guest no. 1000 to check in, you get whatever room is left, whatever that may be. Logic and luck...depends on when you check in!

:p I think we are on the same wave length. This has been my philisophy about all those people who say they got a complimentary upgrade. I think Disney tends to overbook the standard views, because at least they get you in the building.

Many years ago, summer 1994 I think, reserved room at All Star Sports. Long before arrival, got notice in mail I was reassigned to Port Orleans Riverside instead. I quietly accepted the change, then checked in at POR, no problems.

I suspect I was given the upgrade because ASSp was overbooked or (being its first year) wasn't completely finished. I also had not gotten any room discounts that time.

A couple of years ago, I think it was during marathon weekend, while checking into the WL, they asked us if we would be interested in switching to the YC at no extra charge. We really like the WL and declined the offer.

Very nice! However AFTER the person who got the Presidential Suite, the next person gets no room at all! This is where getting bumped to another hotel comes in.

I assume it was due to overcrowding, they didn't tell us why though, but they called us before (a month or two, I really don't remember) our trip and asked us if we would mind a complimentary upgrade from CBR to the Contemporary, I said yes immediately- I had always wanted to stay there, and it turns out we were in the Tower, that was a great moment.
