Has anybody tried this?

I have a 5 day base pass that I won and can not upgrade. I wanted park hopper. What if I purchase a 10 day base to use the second park of the day?
How about using both tickets for the one park to get double the Fast Pass.
I would only use 6 days od the 10 day pass

I suppose you could... but you'd first have to enter the park with one pass, exit, then reenter the park using the other pass. Both passes would have to have been used that day for park entry, or the Fast Pass machines won't dispense a ticket.

I wasn't aware that there were MYW base passes that you cannot upgrade.

Regardless, the double FastPass idea probably won't work, since the FastPass machines make sure that the admission pass has already been swiped for entry to that park that day.

We had some old tickets and they were not PHers either. So a CM told us we could go to different parks on the same day using the same tickets, BUT it would use another day off our tickets...
So if you are gonna do 2 parks in one day with your 5 dayMYW you would have 2 days of 2 different parks, and 1 day of 1 park...

Now I am not at all sure if this can be done. Don't see why not as Disney is getting less park use from a 5 day MYW if you use it 2 times a day then if you did 5 days at one park per day..
not sure that made sence, but you would not be getting a good value for the ticket, on the other hand if it was free, why worry?

This is not true any longer. The new MYW tickets prevent you from using the same (non-park-hopping) ticket at two parks on the same day.

Park hopping costs $40. One extra day on a 5 day pass costs $2-$3.

If they are comped tickets, they will have a dollar value of $0.00, so the "upgrade" would be equivalent to just buying a new ticket altogether. What does surprise me, however, is that you can't buy one of the fixed-price addons - I'd definitely try that at a guest relations location once you get there. It doesn't hurt to try.

That doesn't work with Magic Your Way tix - whereas the old park non-hopper tickets just counted the number of admissions, the new tickets actually count the number of days. If you try to enter a second park on the same day, you will be refused and directed to buy the park hopping addon.

I would only be using 5-6 days of the 10 day ticket. With only a $11.00 difference between 5 day and 10 day I could use that ticket on the same day as I use the other ticket just for the Fast Pass or the chance for 2 Fast Passes for 4 or 5 days for $11.00

In order for a ticket to be used for a fast pass it must have been used for admission to that park on that day. So your "double fast pass" idea would only work in one park and only if you enter with the non-hopper and then exit and re-enter the park with the hopper. Then when you switch parks the one park per day ticket will not work in the FP machine of the second park.

Sounds like an awful lot of trouble and $ for an extra FP or two and park hopping. With planning and even the singles lines you can save some $$ and extra effort.

I would either use the ticket you won as intended, try and add the hopper option when you arrive or purchase a hopper and save the ticket you won for another trip when you won't need/want to hop. FWIW, adding the hopper option is $40.00 and is not considered an upgrade but an add-on so you may be able to do this at WDW.
