Hi –

I’ve sold some things on Craigslist in the past – and have always met the potential buyers in a public place (shopping center parking lot, etc.). However, I’m thinking about listing some clothes on CL, but not sure how to handle the “exchange”. :confused3

Wouldn’t most people expect to be able to try the clothing on before purchasing it? If that is the case, how do you do it? I don’t want strangers in my home - that’s why I’ve always done a public exchange.

I’d appreciate any suggestions you might have. :)

Thanks,
Laura

Hmmm, that's a tough one.

To me, CR is basically just a really good garage sale, and I don't let anyone in my home for any reason if I hold a garage sale. I wouldn't let them come in to try it on. Maybe you can make an arrangement - they pay you the $$ and take the merchandise and you give them exactly 24hrs to return it to you if it does not fit. That's only if you want to be nice about it. I would say "cash and carry and it is yours" (no bringing it back - but that's just me.)

We recently re-did our DD's bedroom and I sold all of the old stuff on CR to make room for the new stuff. I carried the items into my garage (put them on plastic) and let the buyers come into my garage to look at it/pick it up. I didn't want anyone coming into my house for any reason so I made sure it was all in the garage.
