The rent and trade forum seems like there are way more people trying to rent points than there are offering points. Is this a usual thing this time of year? It seems we DVCers have to worry about beating the 7 month window now renters have to worry about actually getting a person with points to rent....economics should take over. There seems to be more demand than supply....therefore the price should go up.

I read on the Resort board that Disney added a season next year. It is called Summer and the rates for Values and Moderates from May 24 2007 to early August will increase. This will make the cost of Vaues around $129 plus tax and Mods around 159.

I read that and was soooo happy to have DVC! Rates are really starting to go up and DVCers will began to see how DVC hedges against inflation.

The only way to get the Dining Plan next summer will require rack rates. This will send many to look at DVC.

That and look at the dates for Free Dining. Not much offered in the way of large discounts this year.

The tide is definitely turning.

And the discounts that Disney offers on rooms has really decreased. I think everyone (including myself) got very spoiled because the discounts allowed us to stay at nice places than we could normally afford. Now, you just don't get as good of a discount.

Yet profits at Disney's theme parks rose 17% last quarter, so apparently more folks are deciding to visit WDW despite the higher rates.

Hmm, I don't know if the tide has turned, or if people are giving their points away... Honestly? I've decided that if I'm paying 5.50 just in maintenance fee's, there is no way in H*ll I'm going to rent them for 10, I'll use them myself & that's exactly what we are going to do!
