Has anybody gotten Marriott Dollar Denominated Cheques from Mypoints? If so, how and where do you use them? Are there any hassles? I was thinking of getting them, but don't want to get stuck with something I might not be able to use.

Thanks for any info!

I got them in 2000 for our Jan 2001 trip to VA and FL (WDW). We used them at a Fairfield Inn in VA and at a Marriott or Courtyard Marriott near Reagan International in D.C. We had absolutely no trouble using them, even when paying for the entire stay at the Fairfield with them. If you have a reservation for a Marriott brand hotel or you know you will travel in the future then they are a good way to spend your points. If I had more time to plan our last WDW trip I would definitely have used points for more Marriott cheques again.

The Marriott cheques are great and can be used at any Marriott-owned property (i.e., JW Marriott, Fairfield Inn, etc.). You can also use their cheques for restaurants; so if you are not traveling over night, you can still visit one of their restaurants! My brother and his family used them to pay for their entire visit to Disneyland at the across-the-street Fairfield Inn.

Enjoy

Now, does anyone know if they expire? It would be great to start collecting them now.

Thanks again :teeth:

I have a cheque in my hot little hands right now and it expires March 31, 2005. I just received it a couple weeks ago. You should be good for a year would be my guess.

We are using our to stay at the Fairfield Inn at the Orlando Airport the first night of our stay since we are flying in late. Room is $49 plus tax and cheque is for $50 so basically we are just paying taxes on room.

I'm really glad to hear that. You also answered another question for me. I was wondering if I should get $50 increments or save up for a $75 or $100 one. Since the site says no change will be given probably the $50 one would be best. And if I don't get to WDW within the year, we can always use it for a weekend getaway somewhere else.

Thanks a bunch!

We used close to $800 worth for our '00 trip -nearly all from rewards programs. Sometimes we were lucky enough to receive 2 @ $25 instead of 1@ $50. Nice to have those small 'spares' for times when you are paying $129 for 2 nites or so. Ours normally all expirations of 12 to 13 months from receipt date.
