I have just been solicited for a time share there. You know the drill -- a great rate for a 3 or 4 night stay and all you have to do is attend the 90 minute pressured sell on their timeshare (which I have no intrest in). I thought it would be nice to go for 4 nights a someone else's expense :)! So I am just getting opinions about this resort or this offer in general. ANybody been there?

and it looked nice. Very close to Sea World. Supposed to be a very family oriented timeshare. The lowest rate I've found for the 2 br / nt is $135. There are some great pictures of their pirate ship pool here:

Did you do anything in particular to receive the timeshare solicitation? It looks like a nice facility to tour. ...

Hi!

My family and I recently stayed at Marriott's Cypress Harbor -- across the street from Horizons. We participated in the 90 minute presentation. The room (a two bedroom condo with 3 TVs, jacuzzi) was gorgeous. Although it was not inside the World, it was only a 10 minute drive to the action. We were taken over to Horizons to check out their condos. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you enjoy this offer. We had a wonderful time!!!!! I must admit that we did go to the Polynesian for 5 nights following, but don't regret accepting Marriott's offer.

The Marriott timeshare presentations are traditionally viewed as being "soft sell". I wouldn't worry much about it other than the loss of 90 minutes...

Dan and I have both saw the facilities. They are of exceptional quality. Saw one of their 1 bedroom vacation homes and do have to say they are giving the DVC vacation properties a run for their money(we own at the Boardwalk). The furnishings/units are --and I hate to say this a little bit nicer than our vacation home at the BW. The only thing is Horizon's location--you can't beat Disney on their location of their resorts. The colors of the Marriots vacation homes are cheery bright greens, yellows, and oranges. Horzon is not decorated "tacky" in any way. They were just finishing up the final touches when we visited last January. Horizons facade is sort of Old Key West in style. Horizons has a food court and a small water playground for the kids. Very nice resort as would be with the Marriot name on it.

Ceopa! Please share where you received that rate of $135/night. We are planning on staying here in April of next year. Thanks.

Bless you kind souls who responded to this! I have been "freaking out" about the presentation spiel and the accommodations -- we have a 4 night stay at Marriott Grande Vista for Sept -- sooo glad to hear it's a softsell and worth the (very reasonable) price!

MollyBelle ...

Just to add, when we attended the 90 minute Marriott presentation, I went in telling the salesman that I was there to compare what they had to offer with Disney. I explained that we were attending Disney's presentation the following week (which we were not), and that we would not be making any decisions within the 1 1/2 hrs. He was very agreeable and informative. Of course he compared the two for the remainder of the presentation, but knew I wasn't signing anything at the table. We did not even receive a follow up phone call. Additionally, they schedule your tour the day before you leave, so you won't even hear from anyone until you show up at the Center.

Our friends stayed at the Grande Vista and loved it. They moved us to Cypress Harbor because we needed a two bedroom. The Grande Vista is the most recent completed resort. You'll have a great time!

Also, they contacted me prior to my visit and offered additional nights (up to 7) at a very great rate. We took advantage and stayed for 6 nights!

Enjoy!

Thank you DisneyPoly for the great info! I will say something similar upfront as a deterrent...I appreciate your having put my mind at ease~

My 2 dd's are already asking when our next visit is scheduled.

There is an on site pirate: water park with a water slide for Bigger kids, zero entry pool, playground, 18 hole putt putt, another pool with pirate ship in the zero entry area. They also have their own pirate: Capt. Horizons who makes appearances during the week.

The bar & grill has good food. The activities staff has a great schedule every day for the kids from face painting, movie night, kids night out, air hockey tournaments, make your own sundae, breakfast with the pirates & lunch with the pirates.

hth,

Judy

Horizons is great. I also agree they are giving DVC a run for its money. The pools/slides are terrific. The theme is Key West and tropical. We own DVC, so I hate to say it, but the inside of the 1 bedroom we stayed in at Horizons was better than DVC - big screen TV in the living room (great satellite TV), very comfy mattresses (even the pullout couch in the living room was comfortable), and beautiful carpet/decor. We use our DVC points for Disney park trips because you can't beat the location/transportation of onsite when you're doing the Disney parks. But for relaxing/comfort and pool time, you can't hardly beat Horizons or Cypress Harbour in my opinion. Plus, I love the palm trees and pretty pastel decor of both properties. Of course, my all time favorite resort is still Disney's Wilderness Lodge/VWL, but hey, variety is the spice of life.

I think you'll enjoy Horizons.
