Here is a story about the NCL's Pride of America which apparently was kept very quiet.
The Pride of America news story wasn't kept quiet. It was reported. Nobody was killed, and there were no dramatic photos or videos. So it was really only news of interest to cruise geeks, not the general public.

While under construction in Germany, the Pride of America listed in heavy stroms and took on water, but did not tip over. She sank in about 30 feet of water, because an extensive amount of water entered the ship. She was not refloated until the following month. The Pride of America should already have been launched, but her launch will delayed somewhere around a year.

In my opinion it is news for the GENERAL PUBLIC. I sailed on the NCL Norwegian Sun to Alaska last year and of course they were busy trying to sell the Pride of America in advance; especially since it is sailing under the American flag with an American crew. Someone I knew had booked it for their honeymoon cruise...you need not be a cruise geek to want to know the story. Needless to say many people were affected who were booked on its sailings and have had to make alternate plans.
