A conversation in the VGC 3.0 thread about concern for its upcoming hard goods refurb had me wonder:

Has there ever been a hard goods refurb where the general opinion was that the refurb was a downgrade?

Of course a number of people are going to dislike any given refurb, and every refurb definitely could have been better (none are perfect). Most probably even have small things that are generally agreed 'misses'...but I couldn't think of a refurb where my sense of the general opinion was "this hard goods refurb is a downgrade".

So I'll ask it here and try to at least measure DISboards opinions: do you think any DVC hard goods refurb was a downgrade?

I have a vague memory of complaints about the quality of BRV’s first refurb, which I think was in 2015 or 2016. That was just about the time that DVC decided to reduce the length of time between refurbs - originally it was 12 years for soft, 25 years for hard goods, and they changed to 7/14.

And BWV was caught by that too; it had a soft goods refurb in 2016, when it was 20 years old, and hard goods not until 2023-24, at the age of almost 28!

I am worried about BLT currently .

How come we can’t Vote the FwCabins ? Haha

I know that the Murphy beds must be a huge improvement for people that use them but, just for the sake of adding them in the latest Vero refurb, they have positioned them in a place that looks neither good or practical.

And it makes me very worried for the next OKW refurb...

I am concerned about the AKL refurb coming up in 2025, I really hope they don’t subdue the theme
I totally agree. That's why we're staying there a couple more times before the refurb starts. The sofa beds definitely need replacing but I hope they don't un-theme (is that a word?LOL) Kidani like they have at most of the other resorts.

Having stayed both pre- and post-refurb at SSR, PVB, BCV and VGF(?) since becoming members in 2016, I don’t recall ever feeling disappointed. I think it’s because the things that bothered most folks, such as the loss of a real table (at SSR) in a studio, aren’t important to me.
Haven’t stayed at BWV yet since its refurb.
Since VGC is so overdue, any update would be an improvement!

From the photos I'm seeing on Facebook, it looks like they are leaning hard into the mid century modern concept at least. TBD on Incredibles theming, but the couple pieces of furniture I've seen look like a massive improvement.
Can you share some of them for those of us that are FB adverse? I just joined DVC in October and have a January trip planned for a 2 Bedroom TPV.

I don’t think they were a downgrade but I was disappointed with the VGF studio villas/BWV (strong dislike of plaid), and also thought BCV was disappointing.

I'm glad HHI got the Murphy bed (no more Ejecto-couch--you oldies will know what I'm talking about!), but it did make for an odd living room layout. The couch was too far over in the room to really be able to see the TV well. The best spot was the oversized chair, which I gladly claimed each evening!
