Hi. I have a 3yr old who is too short for the forbidden journey ride but I was wondering if they will let him go through the line as I hear there is alot to just see while you wait in line? And does universal have a rider swap program at all for families with a child too small to go on rides?
While I am here....this is our first trip....are there any rides that might be really scary for a 7yr old?

Yes your 3 year old can go through the queue with you. They have a waiting room at the end of height restricted ride queues with a TV showing something related to that ride. One of you can ride with your older child whilst the other sits in the waiting room with your youngest then you can switch and your eldest can ride again.

We went with a 7 year old and 4 month old and it was so nice to be able to sit out of the sun with our little one and nurse whilst our eldest rode with his dad and then switch.

Our 7 year old rode anything he was tall enough to and wasn't scared at all. You will have a ball!

Universal's "child swap" is far more family friendly than Disney's, as everyone can go through the line, and they have places to wait for the non-riders. It's lovely.

My then-7 year old wouldn't go on Forbidden Journey because it seemed spooky to him. A year later he went, though. He won't ride the Mummy b/c of, well, mummies. He hasn't seen the movie, because we all know it would scare him. (odd kid...has seen all of the POTC movies and LOVES them, has never lost a moment of sleep, but other "lighter" movies freak him out)

Oh, and DS won't even go in the Mummy building, even now. So during our last trip, DH and DS went "on" Twister while I rode the Mummy. Great ride! SPOOKY line.

I liked AOA parent swap better than how Disney does too. Much more convient and out of the heat!!

Thank you everyone for your replies. Our first trip to disney I spent time researching every ride..reading parent reviews..deciding ahead of time which the kids should not do. This is our first trip to universal..fast aproaching and I feel so unprepared! But with kids ages 3-13 I figure we will be hitting every ride so it is nice to know the kid swap is so accomadating!!
