Harry Potter question

My dh says that Neville from Harry Potter was cursed and that's why he has such bad luck. I remember that his parents got destroyed (I think alive, but insane) because they stood up to Voldemort, but I don't remember Neville being cursed.

Does anyone remember anything about that?

I don't remember him being cursed.

I don't remember him being cursed either. I believe his parents were Aurors (sp?) and are in and insane asylum because of Voldemort.

That's what I thought too, but dh seemed so sure about it and he usually has an incredible memory. It would explain why he's always messing things up though.

I just finished re-reading book 4 and there wasn't a mention of him being cursed

I do not think he is cursed, but can't rule it out either, I suppose.
I recall Dumbledore talking about his parents driven to insanity because of Voldemort infering that Neville is a butterfingers due to his family circumstance. He is frightened alot.
Anyway that is kinda how I see Neville.

I don't beleive Neville was cursed, but a curse was used on his parents by Voldemort...err...sorry...he-who-must-not-be-named... and the curse drove his parents insane. That was why Neville was frightened by the mention of that curse in the last book.

Neville is not cursed in the books. Actually the Longbottoms were not killed by Voldemort but by a couple of Voldemort's supporters who tortured the Longbottoms looking for Voldemort shortly after Voldemort's first attempt to kill Harry backfired. At the time Voldemort was not in the position to curse or torture anyone.

One of the nicest scenes in the first movie and in the first book was when Dumbledore awarded points to Neville for standing up to Harry, Ron and Hermonie. It was a very nice touch.

I just asked DD who's read all the books at least twice and she says Neville is not cursed.

4 Harry Potter freaks in my house and we all agree that Neville is not cursed. He is the way he is because of his parents being tortured and having to be committed to an insane asylum. The way that we see it is that he has had a hard life and that is why he is so forgettful and nervous. Can't wait for the next book!
