Harry Potter Fans Help Me!

Ok so i've seen that there are lots of Harry Potter fans on here, so i figured i would ask for help, my friend wants to go see the new HP movie and i promised that i would go with him, and we are going the day after tommorow. But i have only seen the 1st one. I was gonna go rent all of the ones i havent seen, but im busy this week and im not gonna have time before friday.
So am i gonna be totally lost? and if so is there things i need to know

If you haven't read the books.
I'm pretty sure you will be lost.
Same with the movies. My friend who has only seen the movies I know wouldn't have gotton most of it.
You might like the action and effects and stuff but if you haven't read the books really to me you would be lost.
I had to explain some stuff to my friend and she has read the books.

Well, you won't have any idea who Sirius is.
Btw, he's his Godfather, and he was believed to have commited murder on 13 muggles and Peter Pettigrew, but he didn't.
Yeah.
I can't explain it.
The movie doesn't even wind up making sense (the third one)

I agree, you need to have seen the other movies to understand the majority of this movie. Not so much the books, as my Dad hasn't read all of them, but he still followed along pretty well. We did have to explain some things to him though. Maybe you could look up a detailed summary of the other books?

I saw the movie the second day it came out. I was with my friend who has only saw the movies and never read the books. She was lost some of the time. I explained the stuff to her. The other people are right. You might not get alot of it. I hope you have fun!! It is a great movie.
