My son really wants to go see this Harry Potter world, but I'm really concerned about crazy crowds. When do you think they will subside after the initial opening?

2015

JK, I really think it is going to be jammed for a while, TSM at WDW is STILL crazy crowded and it has been 3 years I think...I mean, there are other thrill rides inparks all over the world, but this is the ONLY HP location...so I would say, expect HEAVY crowds each holiday and summer, period.

::yes::

We're going in July and will spend one day at Universal to see Harry Potter. My daughter said she doesn't care if it takes th whole day just for that one attraction! I say she's crazy because my 3 grandkids (8,11,12) will drive us nuts having to stand in long lines!:rotfl::wizard:

We are booked at Disney Labor Day weekend and the week after. Our plans have us checking out HP on Saturday of LD weekend because in the past it hasn't been a crowded time to go. Now I think it's going to be PACKED afterall, especially on the weekend. But the good news is our passes are 7 day unlimiteds so we can run over to IOA any day during our stay.

the crowds will be totally out of control... i would recommend going early september. as soon as the kids go back to school, hit it and you will not have a problem. :goodvibes

We're going late August. I expect it to be pretty crowded, but not closing-the-parks horrendous. We're actually not HP fans (:scared1:), so we don't really care if we don't get to see any of those attractions/that area of the park. We've normally enjoyed near-empty parks this time of year-- I'm not naive enough to expect that, but I still think it'll be do-able.

thanks for asking this question, it was one I had-I have one more though.......if we do go and go after the 6/18 opening-do we have to buy a HP package to get into WWOHP? After reading all these posts.......I am worried. We were thinking of staying at disney with disney rewards I have, go to disney a day then WWOHP-can we still get into this area?

After 6/18 everyone can enter WWoHP.

You can still get in Amy but you won't have Front of theLine Access b/c you aren't staying on US property. I don't thinkI would even attempt it without that. We are at disney for a week and then we are choosing to go stay on US property for a few nights to take advantage of front of theline...

I'm hoping by November 6th, the crowds will have slowed down enough so we can at least get into HP. (not staying on site) I think this attraction will up attendance for a few years, maybe more. I predict HP fans from all over the world will make this a pilgrimage, especially if it gets rave reviews.
My 23 year old dd is the HP fanatic in our family. She cried when she heard what it was going to be like. Cried! She said she's dreamed of being there since the first book and now she can. She's normal in every other area of her life, but when it comes to this, she's kind of a nut. ;) Looking around the net on HP fan sites, she's certainly not alone.

Lol, I was just telling somebody at work that I'll probably cry when we walk into Hogsmead. It's just so amazing. But I don't have to explain that to all you true fans. You get it.

Per the lady at booking at Universal yesterday, there is no express pass for the new Harry Potter ride whether you stay on property or not. She said you could still express pass the "old dueling dragons" which is now part of the ride, but no express for Harry itself. :(

so based on what I am reading A Harry poter is n IOA and B it is a rollor coster
WWoHP is in IOA but no one really knows what kind of attraction it will be...yet. I think the general concensus is it's a robocoaster but not a rollercoaster. It does not go upside down and the ride vehicles will be robotic arms seating four across. We will have to wait and see for sure.

I totally agree with your daughter! My bf and I are going at the end of june/beginning of july and spending one day at universal (the rest of the week at Disney) JUST to see HP!

cannot wait!

Just bought the express tickets for 12/21 and planned to use them for Harry. Thats not possible?!:sad1: Also, I hate rollercoasters but can do Dinasour and test track. I love soarin. Will Harry be similar???

Hi - There are three rides in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at IOA. The first two are re-worked existing rides: Dueling Dragons has become the Tri-Wizard Tournament and yes it is a rollercoaster (2 coasters actually!) that do go upside down and is quite Thrilling! The other is what is now the Hippogriff ride (formerly the Unicorn I believe) a simple kids coaster that does not go upside down.

The new Harry Potter ride within Hogwarts Castle is a big secret but it has scenes from the original cast (Emma Watson confirmed that she and Dan and Rupert filmed some this past year) and is described as virtual ride - so a dark ride in a car? Possibly a motion simulator type? We'll all find out in June I guess:wizard:
